Mahalo, and congratulations, Nathan Wood and the ‘ohana, on the new, 8,000-square-foot building that Shelley Paik of the Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative (Scott Sato was getting nervous about talking behind the microphone) described as “off the grid.” Nathan and his ‘ohana hosted the Contractors Association of Kaua‘i membership meeting (they liked having bento plates from Mark’s Place instead of a buffet line) that included a tour of the new building (thank you, Natural Pet Hawai‘i, for the use of the parking space).

Mahalo, too, to Koloa Landing Resort, for offering opportunities in nearly two dozen positions ranging from leadership, heart of the house and front of the house. Applicants were treated to house-prepared snacks from the “great team” that General Manager Aaron Bambling described. Aimee Lorenzo said people who missed out on the in-person event can apply online at koloalandingresort.com/careers.
Happy Girls Day, Kaua‘i! The special day falls on the third day of the third month, just a day past Dr. Suess’ birthday and Read Across America. Jean Souza was going to choose a book that one of the kupuna volunteering at the Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery was going to read on Saturday when Kukui Grove Center offers its campaign to promote literacy (Sheila Bradbury and OSBorne Books and More is hosting a big book sale that helps Elyse Litvack and Kumu’s Cupboard).
Check it out, and don’t forget the East Kaua‘i Lions Club (and King Kaumuali‘i Elementary School) spaghetti meal, on Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon.
