Dawn Kawahara (last chance to see the Ukraine People Poetry exhibit before she changes the exhibit at the Lihu‘e Public Library) said she’s been to Penzance, but never got to see the pirates, until Wednesday evening when the Hawai‘i Opera Theatre (they also had a presentation at the Waimea Public Library on Monday on the opening of the Waimea library following its renovation and improvement work) presented to a good-sized audience of about a hundred keiki and their parents.

If it’s pirates, definitely, Jim Jung (his specially-created train made for good overflow seating) was there, except he was not in pirate gear.
Kudos, Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i for partnering with King’s Lihu‘e, and financial support (yes, they had eggs, meat, and milk!) from the Kaua‘i United Way on the 300 family food distribution on Tuesday at a site that’s walking distance to the Women in Need, and affordable rental housing.
On the other side of the coin, Mike Vallee and Security National Mortgage Co. is teaming up for the “Help Feed Kaua‘i” food drive/music festival, Saturday from 5 p.m. at the Anahola Marketplace featuring Kaua‘i musical artist Sashamon, Vallee’s Da Funk! band, and Haunani Kaui and Linda Tani performing as Tropical Groove. No admission, but contributions benefiting the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank are gladly welcomed to “help feed Kaua‘i.”
