MANA — Christian Silva topped the Junior Dragster division at the year-end Garden Isle Racing Association drag races that was contested as a day race at Kaua‘i Raceway Park in Mana.
Silva topped the Nov. 12 race on a 7.90 elapsed time, his Jr. Dragster reaching 82.64 mph on a 7.92 Dial-in, to edge out Taislee Simao, who challenged the leader on a 7.95 ET but red lighted.
Silva’s win catapaulted him to a year-end 790 points, a clear leader over Sophia Koetje. She ended the year with 490 points, just 10 points ahead of Kyra Medeiros, who ended with 480 points.
Rob Nelson ended the race winner after topping the Super Pro class en route to being named King of the Track in his 1981 Pontiac Trans Am. Nelson also topped the Super Pro points standing at 670 points.
The Nov. 12 drag races, presented by the Garden Isle Racing Association, was the final race for 2022. The race was also limited to daylight hours due to then endangered sea birds fledgling season.
