WAIMEA — Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation wrestling tournament director Mac Pigott announced Thursday that the traditional fall clinic will return in-person on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Clem Gomes Gym on the Waimea High campus.
WAIMEA — Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation wrestling tournament director Mac Pigott announced Thursday that the traditional fall clinic will return in-person on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Clem Gomes Gym on the Waimea High campus.
“Ten years ago, the KIF sanctioned wrestling, and we kicked off our first season with a fall clinic,” Pigott said. “This fall clinic became a tradition, and we hosted one each year except for the last two years. That was due to various COVID-19 restrictions. This Saturday, the fall clinic is back.”
Pigott said following the KIF preseason coaches meeting on Wednesday, it appears that all member schools have increased participation in wrestling for the upcoming season that starts in January 2023.
Former Ohio State wrestler Johnni DiJulius will be leading the techniques segment with KIF head referee Frank Filippi going over current KIF rules for the upcoming season.
Filippi will also officiate the open mat wrestling that will be part of the fall clinic.
