The Ho‘okipa Food Pantry program (they crank out about 80 bags of food, or about 200 pounds, every week!) is currently being handled by the Kapa‘a United Church of Christ (they’ve got their 100-year anniversary coming up in August!) where the shopping bags are used. If you cut off the bottoms when you reach your destination, it becomes a “muscle shirt” until the bottoms get sewn up again. Ho‘omana Thrift Store is also cranking out about 60 hot meals a week, too.
Sean Dizol (he was doing building maintenance Saturday at Po‘ipu Shopping Village, where the line to Anuenue restaurant wrapped around the space where the Plantation Museum will open today from 5 p.m.) and Keane Hosaka had those great-looking Ainofea security shirts on for the third week of Friday Night Art Walk in Hanapepe, where Holly Ka‘iakapu was set up next to Ku‘u Breen of the Hanapepe Cafe. And where was Greg Askew and those frozen treats?
Kudos, Tiffany Dick, Mark Bonilla and all those Aloha Dance Studio instructors for adding spice to the Countdown to Charity Walk Saturday (yes, you can still register to walk and have a chance at that slate of great incentives, because Leona Sa McDermott of Special Olympics Kaua‘i said the deadline has been extended to the start of the walk).
Also, Special Olympics Kaua‘i brings back the Cop on Top fundraiser at Walmart from Aug. 25 to 27 (who’s going to be “on top” this time around?).
