Candidates should have criminal background checks
Thank you, Mr. Ray Domingo, for your last letter in which you suggest a drug test for all political candidates.
I would like to take this a step further and request a criminal background check for each candidate.
Had this been done before the last election, the county possibly would have saved thousands of dollars in salary and benefits that were paid to a person in federal prison.
A note to all political volunteers: After the primary in August and the election in November, please, please, please take down all the signs promoting candidates. The signs are a blot on our beautiful Kaua‘i. They may serve a purpose before the election, but after the event the signs are just rubbish.

According to recent article, he awaits sentencing in a mainland prison. With two others. I don’t know the two others.
