LIHU‘E — Come TOUCH-A-TRUCK, Saturday invites the Kaua‘i Police Department.
A variety of trucks from the county’s fleet, including the KPD armored rescue vehicle, the county’s fire trucks, a Kaua‘i Bus, and even a one-man refuse pickup truck, and more will be available at the Kaua‘i Police Department South Parking lot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..
TOUCH-A-TRUCK is a free, fun, family friendly event where keiki, and keiki-at-heart have an opportunity to touch, sit in, and learn more about the large trucks and emergency vehicles they see around their community. People will have an opportunity to meet the truck operators as well as keiki having an opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat of these vehicles, take photos, and learn about how these vehicles work.
“Connecting with the community — from our keiki to our kupuna — is a priority for the Kaua‘i Police Department,” said Police Chief Todd Raybuck. “We look forward to opening up our hale for a day of fun for all ages to climb in and around the trucks and emergency vehicles.”
For a safe, fun experience keiki must be accompanied by an adult.
Keiki and the adult guardian need to protect from the sun, and load up with sunscreen.
Families should pack lots of water and snacks, and don’t forget the camera to capture the fun keiki and truck photo moments.
Ample public parking will be available in the courthouse parking lot located across the South Parking Lot.
TOUCH-A-TRUCK is a free community event and open to the public.
