LIHU‘E — The Lihue Business Association’s June 23 program will be on permits.
“We all have heard complaints about the painfully slow and complicated process of obtaining a building permit,” a press release said.
“Even seemingly simple plans run through a maze of reviews based on national, state and local environmental, safety and land-use regulations that were designed to protect our built environment and the people who live in it. But does the process have to take so long?” the release asks.
Speakers will be Leolynne Escalona, code enforcement officer, county Department of Public Works Building Division; Ka‘aina Hull, director, county Planning Department; Jason Kagimoto, county Department of Water Engineering Division; John Kolman, state Department of Health Kaua‘i District Environmental Health Program chief; Bryan Wienand, regulatory section head, DPW Engineering Division.
“Join us to learn more about the whys and wherefores of Kaua‘i’s permitting process, and to ask questions you may have about it,” a release said.
