Frances Gadingan
Frances Gadingan passed away on May 23, 2022, at the age of 92, on O‘ahu. She was born on July 13, 1929, in Pu‘unene, Maui. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years Leon Gadingan, son-in-law Richard Tomita, grandsons Cyrus Gadingan and Sean Agoot, mother Eulogia Nicolas, father Guillermo Tacderan, sisters Helen Nono, Linda Cadiam and Bernie Bueno, and brothers Frankie Polintan, Ernest Tacderan and Arthur Tacderan.
She is survived by children Jeannie (Stanley) Agoot, Leonard (Faith) Gadingan, Leona (Richard, deceased) Tomita of O‘ahu, Leonel “Sonny” (Emily) Gadingan, grandchildren Lorelei (Joseph) Hosea of O‘ahu, Kimberlyn (Keith) Howell of Happy Valley, Oregon, Lance Tomita of O‘ahu, Donovan (Rhonda) Gadingan, Kylene (Timothy Jr.) Albao, Chelsea (Chris) Goshi of O‘ahu, Tyson (Kazuko) Gadingan of O‘ahu, Jason (Kimberly) Steele of Virginia and Edward Steele, great-grandchildren Ryan Agoot of Seattle, Chloe, Kainoa and Chrissy Howell of Happy Valley, Oregon, Luana and Aidan Gadingan, Mason Tomita of O‘ahu, Kai‘ea and Kiowa Albao, Trent and Blake Goshi of O‘ahu, and Jace and Harper Steele of Virginia, sisters Clarita Visitacion, Dolores (Eddie) Recopilacion of O‘ahu, Maggie Bermudes of Las Vegas, Kathleen (Jose) Arucan of O‘ahu, Marilyn Salas and Norma Salas of O‘ahu, and numerous loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the family on Saturday, June 18, at St. Raphael Church in Koloa. Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by service and Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Raphael Cemetery. The family requests that masks be worn at all times.
Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Glenn M. Silva
Glenn M. Silva, 67, of Moloa‘a, passed away on Mar. 13, 2022, in Honolulu. He was born in Lihu‘e on Oct. 5, 1954 to Gwendolyn Kamali‘i and Frank Silva.
He graduated from Kapa‘a High School in 1972 and went on to start a long, successful career in the construction industry. He was well known and respected for his meticulously built seawalls around Kaua‘i and for his excellent heavy equipment skills.
He loved his work and rarely took any days off. He was a skilled guitarist, beautiful singer, and loved riding his Harley. He was mostly known for his infectious good humor and for spreading aloha in so many loving ways. In his spare time, he doted on his cats Squirt, Buddy and Nala.
He was preceded in death by son Matthew, mother Gwendolyn and father Frank.
He is survived by wife Julie, children Angela, Jenny, David and Ryan, brothers Oscar and Patrick, two nieces, three nephews, and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Please join his family for a celebration of life on Saturday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 2838 Kealia Rd., next to the old post office.
Alan Nakamura
Alan Nakamura passed away on May 12, 2022, at the age of 74, in Sacramento, California. He was born on Nov. 20, 1947, in Lihu‘e. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by wife Akiko Nakamura and son Brian Nakamura.
He is survived by daughter Janice Nakamura, grandson TJ, siblings Eleanor, Janet and Rex, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service is Saturday, June 25, at Sacramento Japanese United Methodist Church, with services at 2 p.m. The family requests casual attire.
