Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club General Manager Berris Wall said Monday that Delia Tumbaga, a recreation attendent at the Waiohai, is on her way to New York.
Tumbaga was named a Way to Go! Diamond Honoree by the Marriott Vacations Worldwide.
The Way to Go! is the top honor in Marriott Vacations Worldwide’s global associate recognition program. Tumbaga is just one of seven associates across more than 120 resorts globally to receive this honor this year. Tumbaga was recognized for her commitment to delivering extraordinary guest experiences.
“Delia effortlessly exudes the most sincere and natural aloha spirit to all,” Wall said. “She acknowledges owners and guests celebrating special occasions with a variety of colorful, handmade lei. These acts of thoughtfulness and kindness are the norm for Delia, all of which she does with her big smile and laughter.”
The Marriott Vacations Worldwide Way to Go! program recognizes associates who are specifically named in guest surveys and other review methods for going above and beyond their normal roles and responsibilities. There were 57 Way to Go! associates named based on promoting a caring culture built on teamwork and integrity, and always striving for excellence.
Associates who received 500 or more Way to Go! awards over the course of their careers earn the Diamond Honoree designation.
Tumbaga has been with Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club for more than 19 years. She has been recognized by guests for treating them with the same love and respect that she would treat one of her own family members. As a result, many of the longtime guests consider her part of their extended families.
“To be a Way to Go! Diamond Honoree is overwhelming, and I’m so thankful to be in this position with Marriott Vacations Worldwide,” Tumbaga said. “It’s all about giving your aloha spirit with the guests and sharing the love I have for my job.”
To celebrate the honor, the seven Way to Go! Diamond Honorees and their guests received an exclusive trip to New York City that included an experience at a Broadway show, a private tour and dinner cruise.
