Kiwanis Club of Kaua‘i presents three scholarships

LIHU‘E — Kiwanis Club of Kaua‘i Scholarship Committee’s Patrick Ono said he never saw so many A’s in his life, Tuesday during the club’s meeting at the Puakea Grill where three scholarships totaling $2,500 were distributed.

Project Hokulani, a University of Hawai‘i at Manoa program, is recruiting Native Hawaiian and Hawai‘i students going into ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th grades on Hawai‘i Island, Molokai, Lana‘i, O‘ahu and Kaua‘i, for a free, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skill-building and college-preparatory program.

This was the week to meet up with the credit unions (yes, I know, Myrvie Buster of Garden Island Federal Credit Union - it’s Rockstar time with Back to School Bash even if school doesn’t let out for another two weeks!) who almost all presented scholarships to deserving graduating high school seniors.
