LIHU‘E — A 700-box Girl Scout cookie order destined for Malama Kaua‘i made a big dent in the storage room last week.
“There’s actually more than 700 boxes of cookies. How many cartons is that at 12 boxes per carton?” Angela Hoover, the Girl Scouts Kaua‘i island coordinator said. “These boxes are going to Malama Kaua‘i for their current and summer keiki meal program.”
Hoover said those boxes are not available for purchase. They were purchased by Girl Scout cookie customers through the Gift of Caring program that’s on the website. Each of these boxes was purchased through this program, so they’re already spoken for.
In addition to the 700 boxes, Hoover said Gift of Caring orders included more than 300 boxes for Kaua‘i Economic Opportunity, 54 boxes for the Kaua‘i United Way, and more than 60 boxes for the Big Brothers Big Sisters after school program.
“This pretty much wraps up our 2022 Girl Scout cookie year,” Hoover said. “We’re still waiting to hear from the Visitor Industry Charity Walk, where our girls distribute samples. But outside of that, it has been a very successful season. We sold everything we ordered.”
