Kate Craighill Roberts
Kate Craighill Roberts passed away on March 22, 2022, at the age of 94, in Kapa‘a. She was born on Nov. 18, 1927, in Nanchang, China. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by husband John Carlton Roberts, and brothers Lloyd Rutherford Craighill Jr. and Peyton Gardner Craighill.
She is survived by son William (Elena) Peyton Roberts of Charlotte, North Carolina, daughters Dorothy Roberts Bekeart of Kapa‘a, Carolyn Roberts of Tucson, Arizona and Rebecca Ann Roberts of Tucson, Arizona, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
William Edward Villanueva Jr.
William Edward Villanueva Jr., also known as “Boy,” “Eddie Boy” or “Willy,” and later changed his name to Sunshine Pablo, 65, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away on Dec. 22, 2021, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana. Willy / Sunshine was born on May 24, 1956, in Honolulu.
After he graduated from high school, he attained a degree in accounting and began his career. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by father William (Lolita) Villanueva of Kilauea, mother Eleanor Cubero Litherland of Vincennes, Indiana, sisters Rose Marie Morimoto of Lihu‘e, Theresa Yadao of Kilauea, Leah (Ray) Ho of Wailua and Deanna (Brian) Cowin of Tampa, Florida, brothers Walter (Shirley) Villanueva of Fairfield, California, Wendell (Jade) Villanueva of Mililani, O‘ahu, Delbert (Allison) Litherland of Indianapolis, Indiana, Allen (Candace) Litherland of Yuma, Arizona and Ron Litherland of Vincennes, Indiana, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by stepfather Larry Litherland of Vincennes, Indiana.
The family has chosen to hold a private memorial in remembrance of him.
Thomas Haruichi Yomen Jr.
Thomas Haruichi Yomen Jr. passed away on Feb. 28, 2022, at the age of 65, in ‘Ele‘ele. He was formerly of Po‘ipu. He was born on Jan. 18, 1957, in Honolulu. He was a journeyman electrician.
He was preceded in death by father Thomas H. Yomen Sr., mother Diane S. Yomen and cousin Bryan Miyake.
He is survived by wife Melinda Balmores Yomen, daughters Cherisse (Tyrus Delos Reyes) S. Yomen of Kaua‘i, Kelcie E. Yomen of Kaua‘i, Asia (RJ Masada) K. Yomen of Kaua‘i, Paris A. Yomen of Kaua‘i, grandchild Chevelle Masada, brothers Jon Yomen and Roy Yomen of Honolulu, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service is t Garden Island Mortuary Saturday, April 2, with a walk-thru visitation from 9 a.m., with services at 10 a.m. The family suggests aloha attire and requests that flowers be omitted. Due to COVID-19, face masks and social distancing are required. There will be a paddle out at PK’s at noon.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ronald ‘Uncle Ron’ Clark
Ronald “Uncle Ron” Clark went home to be with his heavenly father on Nov. 22, 2020. Born July 10, 1936, in Grass Valley, California. He moved to Kaua‘i in 1970 and fell in love with the island and the people, and made it his home. He worked for the state Department of Transportation for 20 years and was a long-time bus driver for Gray Line Hawai‘i. He was a retired Marine and a dedicated member of the Marine Corps League.
He was a faithful member of the Kapa‘a First Hawaiian Church for over 30 years, and was the church’s greeter, where he welcomed local members and visitors alike every Sunday. He dedicated his life to genuinely helping people, no matter what their circumstances. He was truly an angel on earth.
He is survived by son Lani Kamakanikailialoha Clark and granddaughters Teirine Marie Clagett and Alexia Uiako Alohilani Clark.
A celebration of life with the scattering of his ashes is Sunday, April 3, at noon at the Lydgate Park north parking lot closest to the Wailua River. The family suggests bringing chairs for those planning to attend.
