Eddie Taniguchi III
Eddie Taniguchi III, 58, of Lihu‘e, passed away on March 10, 2022, at home. He was born in Waimea, Kaua‘i, on Jan. 20, 1964, and retired as a Propane Truck Driver at The Gas Company.
He was preceded in death by his father Eddie Taniguchi Jr., brother George “Keoki” Taniguchi, in-laws Robert Tadashi Yamauchi and Tomie Yamauchi.
Eddie is survived by his wife Kris Yamauchi-Taniguchi, daughter Hokuka‘ano‘i Taniguchi, mother Eloise Taniguchi, brothers, Roger (Lisa) Taniguchi, Manuel Taniguchi, sister Jasmine (Charlie) Taniguchi Kahepu‘u, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Niumalu Beach Pavilion. Visiting with family will begin at 10 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m.
Family is requesting that all visitors please wear a mask. Flowers and lei are welcomed.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens is assisting the family with arrangements.
Amanda Tadena Villanueva
Amanda Tadena Villanueva, 90, of Kilauea, passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on Feb. 25, 2022. She was born in Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, on April 27, 1931, and retired from Sheraton Princeville as a housekeeper.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hiraldo “Harry” Pascua Villanueva, daughter-in-law Gina aka Aundretta, parents Benito Tadena, Urbana Lebag, brothers Frederico (Rosario) Tadena, Juanito (Restituta) “Pidot” Tadena, Mariano Tadena, sisters Josefina (Frederico) Ramos, Rosario Tadena Caro, Clementia “Liming” (Pepito) Raneses, Caridad Dallo, Flora Tadena and Susana Tadena.
Amanda is survived by her daughter Cecelia Urbana Tadena Villanueva, son Dean Felix Tadena Villanueva, grandchildren Richard (Keiosha) Townsend, Maile Leilani (Prince) Villanueva-Miller, Shyla Kanani Kaninauali’i Enos Villanueva, great-grandchildren Ta’quan Townsend, Taliyah Townsend, Nyla Miller, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022, at St. Sylvester Church with visitation from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe at 1 p.m.
Mask and social distancing will be observed.

Danny Hashimoto
Danny Hashimoto, the Kauaian Sup‘pa Man (Kauaian Superman), passed away on Oct 20, 2022, 2:57 a.m., during the Full Moon.
Danny, born Dec. 25, 1948, 12:03 a.m., the first baby born on Christmas Day in Hawai‘i was forever childlike at Christmas. His childhood was in Wailua Houselots, he attended/graduated Kamehameha Schools, served in the Army in Vietnam and was a Realtor on Kaua‘i for many years, initially involved with Princeville. He lived Aloha, was a great photographer, hiking guide and creator of epic Cacao Mousse desserts!
There will be a Celebration of Life for our Beloved Danny Tadashi Hashimoto Sunday March 27, 2022, from 11:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the large pavilion at Lydgate Park.
Please join us with your story, song, poem, dance, silent presence; however you’d like to celebrate Danny with our community. Blessing at noon. Potluck finger food. Free photos of friends on hikes and gatherings that Danny took, keepsakes of Danny’s precious things for friends to choose from.
Jane Moriwaki Tsuneta
Jane Moriwaki Tsuneta died at her Hanapepe Cliffside home on Aug. 27, 2021, at the age of 84. Born in Lihu‘e, on Nov. 25, 1936, she graduated from Kaua‘i High School in 1954.
She married James Hajime (Haji) Tsuneta and later moved to Los Angeles, Calif. She was controller in the accounting department of White King Soap Co. in L.A.
She and Haji retired back to Hanapepe, Kaua‘i, to help care for their aging parents.
Jane is survived by daughters Karen Tsuneta of Monterey Park, California, Charlayne (Dennis) Gunderson of Long Beach, California, three grandsons James, Eirik, Kevin, three brothers Edwin (Jane) Moriwaki of Pearl City, Hawai‘i, Owen (Carol) Moriwaki of Harbor City, California and Melvin (Cheng) Moriwaki of Torrance, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Hajime Tsuneta, father Kiyoshi Moriwaki and mother Shizue Moriwaki.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 1 p.m., at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery Pavilion. Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Vivian L. Kamibayashi
Vivian Leimomi (Hanohano) Kamibayashi, 74, of Wailuku, passed away on Feb. 16, 2022, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was born on July 3, 1947, on O‘ahu and raised in Kapa‘a. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jacob J. Kamibayashi, son L. Kanane Kamibayashi, daughters Leila-Joy (Juan) Garza and L. Makana Kamibayashi.
Vivian is also survived by her sister Maude (John) Cumming, brothers Daniel Hanohano, Nathan (Deby) Hanohano, Kenneth Hanohano, grandchildren Brehdan Kamibayashi, Vance (Kayla) Hanohano, Jacob “Pono” Kamibayashi, Jonathan Garza, Jason Garza, Ku‘ulani Kamau, Lohealani Mayumi Kamau and Ka‘eo Kamau, great-grandchildren Cameron Kamibayashi, Kaleb Hanohano, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Joyce Hanohano and hanai-sister Ellie (Pulou) Kirifi.
A celebration of life service will be held at King’s Cathedral Maui, on Saturday April 2, 2022. Public visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with a service at 10 a.m.

Gerardo Penalba Mararagan
Gerardo Penalba Mararagan passed away on March 7, 2022, at the age of 83, in Waimea, Kaua‘i. He was born on April 23, 1938, in Punungyan, Mendez, Cavite of the Philippines. A Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was also a Logistics Specialist at PMRF.
He was preceded in death by his parents Candido and Maria Mararagan, brother Gavino Mararagan and sister Vincenta Mararagan.
Gerardo is survived by his wife Perlita Mararagan, sons Mario (Julie) Mararagan of ‘Ele‘ele, Melvin (Joletta) Mararagan of Lawai, Mark (Rachelle) Mararagan of Honolulu, grandchildren Jeivin (Megan) DeCosta-Mararagan, Jeianna (Chris) Iguchi, Jace, Jaime, Megan, Connor Mararagan, great-grandchildren Kaeton, KariMei, KeeliRae and Kaezen Iguchi, sister Apolinaria Amparo of California, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at St. Theresa Church in Kekaha. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m., Mass to follow at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.
