Fire hits Wailua Homesteads home

WAILUA HOMESTEADS — Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters responded to a structure fire Saturday that broke out in a two-story residence in Wailua Homesteads.

No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.

Multiple units from the Kaiakea, Kapa‘a and Lihu‘e fire stations and a battalion chief were dispatched to the scene on Lokomaikai Place at approximately 11:20 a.m.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control in roughly 20 minutes and continued to fully extinguish the fire shortly after. Responding units cleared the scene at approximately 1 p.m. The KFD Fire Prevention crew remained on scene to conduct their investigation, clearing the area around 3:20 p.m.
