LIHU‘E — Saturday marked the start of Girl Scout cookie time for 2022 at Kukui Grove Center.
Patrons to the Girl Scout cookie tables manned by several troops, including Troop 964 from Koloa, were treated to samples of the new flavor this year, Adventurefuls, individually wrapped for COVID safety. Patrons could also place orders for the new flavor and the eight perennial favorites.
Pre-sales for this year’s new flavor as well as the eight favorites started Jan. 3 and will run through Feb. 17, the date when cookies arrive on Kaua‘i and deliveries start.
Girl Scout executives and troop leaders are monitoring the Kaua‘i COVID-19 situation and are ready to adapt to whatever mandates and rules are in place governing stopping the spread and keeping everyone safe.
“Girl Scout cookie arrive on Kaua‘i on Feb. 17,” said Angela Hoover, the Girl Scouts of Hawai‘i regional island coordinator. “After that date, customers can find cookies via the website www.gshawaii.org/en/cookies/find-cookies.html.”
Girl Scouts will also be at select stores, including securing authorization to be at the Times Supermarket at KGC from Feb. 18 to March 27. Shoppers to the retail booths are encouraged to visit and shop early for the best selection.
For the first time this year, Girl Scouts across the country will be offering Adventurefuls, a brownie-inspired cookie with caramel-flavored creme and a hint of sea salt.
Adventurefuls joins eight other flavors including lemon-ups, samoas, tagalongs, do-si-dos, trefoils, thin mints, girl scout s’mores and toffee-tastic that are available through Girl Scouts, Girl Scout troops and the website.
“In 2021, Girl Scouts created new ways to be successful in their cookie businesses so they could continue to use their cookie funds to power experiences like camp, troop activities and service projet in their communities,” said Girl Scouts of the United States Interim CEO Judith Batty.
“We are inspired by the resilience and ingenuity of Girl Scouts and cannot wait to see the girl-led innovations in the 2022 Girl Scout cookie program. You may see cookies, but we see leadership and adventure in each box,” said Batty.
All proceeds from Girl Scout cookie sales benefit local councils and Girl Scout troops, powering amazing experiences for girls and facilitation of the Girl Scout leadership experience.
Starting Feb. 18, enter a ZIP code into the Girl Scout Cookie Finder at girlscoutcookies.org to find a booth close by, purchase cookies from a local Girl Scout troop for delivery, or to donate cookies to first responders and local causes through the Gift of Caring program.
