Happy birthday, Torie Ho‘opi‘i of Missing Polynesia. Missing Polynesia came back as a pop-up (yes, she had the new stuff promised during her last trip here) at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e.
Happy birthday, Torie Ho‘opi‘i of Missing Polynesia. Missing Polynesia came back as a pop-up (yes, she had the new stuff promised during her last trip here) at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e.
Torie’s birthday was Saturday, and she was excited about being able to spend it at The Bull Shed restaurant in Waipouli.
Congratulations to the five new Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity homeowners who got their house keys Friday from Milani Pimental, who got help from Chelsea Crapser and David Bieker (boy, it’s been so long that the offices have been closed).
Kudos, too, to the Kekaha Landfill ‘ohana for coordinating the efforts of two pages’ of sponsors (some from as far away as Hawai‘i Island? And wasn’t there a collection box at Mark’s Place?) to enable the Westside keiki and families to have a Christmas filled with lights (the light tunnel was the bomb!), excitement (wow! Paddy Boy Malama’s “real” boat!), food (where was the hospitality room?), and toys (more than double the amount of last year that sold out)! And, the Waimea farmers’ market (every Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.) just conveniently happened to take place on the same afternoon.
More kudos to Donna Lynn Loo, Grace Delos Reyes, and the county Agency on Elderly Affairs for recognizing the efforts of Kaua‘i Retired and Senior Volunteer Program volunteers (we had the Americorps version helping at ‘Ele‘ele Iluna, and they are able to get home in time for Christmas) in a drive-thru event that started Friday and will conclude with a Waimea Canyon Park drive-thru Tuesday.
OK, time to go find Larry Feinstein at the Toys for Keiki motorcycle run being done in memory of Russell Haluapo (it’ll always be Russell’s ride for the keiki).
