Kaua‘i lane closures Dec. 13-17

LIHU‘E — There will be roving right-lane closures on Kuhio Highway between Rice Street and Kalihiwai Road Monday through Friday, Dec. 13 to 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for maintenance including cutting grass and clearing of drains and culverts.

Travel in both directions will be maintained with alternating traffic control.

Following is a summary of expected roadwork this week. All are weather-permitting.

Hanapepe

• A single-lane closure and lane shift on Kaumuali‘i Highway at the bridge over the Hanapepe River in the vicinity of Iona Road will take place Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 15 to 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for bridge inspections. Travel in both directions will be maintained with alternating traffic control.

‘Oma‘o

• A single-lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway at Upa Road and Piko Road in the vicinity of mile marker 9.2 will take place Tuesday, Dec. 14, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., for emergency pavement reconstruction to a section of settled pavement. Travel in both directions will be maintained with alternating traffic control.

Lihu‘e

• A single-lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway between Anonui Street and Rice Street in the westbound direction will be Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 13 and 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for site maintenance to support measurement of pavement conditions. Travel in both directions will be maintained with alternating traffic control.

Wailua

• A right-shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapa‘a bypass road, is on now through Friday, Dec. 17, 24-hours-a-day, for road and shoulder work.

Kapa‘a

• A portion of Mailihuna Road will be closed from Monday to Friday, Dec. 13 to 17, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for sidewalk construction and roadway excavation. A temporary traffic detour route will be available through Kolohala Road and Hau‘a‘ala Road.

Anahola

• A shoulder closure and lane shift on Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction between the vicinity of milepost 12 to Kukuihale Road is on now through Friday, Dec. 17, 24-hours a day, to allow crews to work on center-lane widening without lane closure.

Kilauea

• A right-lane closure of Kuhio Highway is possible in either direction between vicinity of Moloa‘a Stream/Kapuna Road and Waiakalua Street, Monday through Friday, Dec. 13 to 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for grass-cutting. Travel in both directions will be maintained with alternating traffic control.
