Dolores Villaflor Alpeche

Dolores Villaflor Alpeche passed away on Aug. 6, 2021, at the age of 91, in Waimea. She was born Sept. 15, 1929 in ‘Ele‘ele. She retired as a sales clerk from Liberty House.

She was preceded in death by husband Alfonso Alpeche Sr., son Leonard (Cindy) Alpeche and great-granddaughter Aria-Skye Raquel.

She is survived by sons Alfonso (Shuweh) Alpeche Jr. of Vacaville, California, Dennis Alpeche of Lihu‘e and Gerald (Tricia) Alpeche of Tucson, Arizona, daughters Patricia (Dennis) Eguchi of Kekaha, Jeanette (Jim – deceased) Neva of Ocean Park, Washington, Stephanie (Norie) Raquel of Kapa‘a, Charleen (Cosme Jr.) Amulacion of Kekaha, 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID-19, services will be held at a later date.

Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Toshihiro Otani

Toshihiro Otani passed away on Sept. 6, 2021, at the age of 97. He was born in Koloa on Jan. 22, 1924. He was a retired fabricator at Lihu‘e Plantation Company.

He was preceded in death by parents Toichi and Mineyo Otani, wife Maria Otani, brothers Tom and Miyoshi Otani, and sister Helen Nitta.

He is survived by daughters Karin Panui and Marilyn “Madi” (Mark) Jiminez, son Michael (Melanie) Otani, sister Sandra (Ralph) lchiyama, brother Jon (Elsie) Otani, four grandchildren and six great-granchildren.

Private services were held. The family has requested no koden (monetary gifts).

Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.

Ernestina Baylon Atanacio

Ernestina Baylon Atanacio passed away on Aug. 29, 2021, at the age of 92. She was born on Nov. 28, 1928, in Iloilo, Philippines. She was a retired custodian for the state of Hawai‘i from Wilcox School.

She was preceded in death by parents lgmedio and Santiaga Baylon, brothers Antonio, Vecinte and Arturo Baylon, and husband Jessie Torres Atanacio.

She is survived by brothers Salvador and Jaime Baylon and sisters Salvacion Baylon and Clarita Baylon Nufable.

Friends can visit the family on Monday, Sept. 20, at Immaculate Conception Church, with visitation from 9:30 to 10 a.m., Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. and burial to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
