Lindbergh M. ‘Lindy’ Akita
Lindbergh M. “Lindy” Akita, CEO, and former president and manager of Akita Enterprises, Ltd. for 60 years, peacefully passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on Aug. 28, 2021.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Wendy, daughter Yolanda Blevins, son Lin, grandchildren Natalie (Rex) Webb and Kekoa (Margarita) Blevins, great-grandchildren Ethan, Brooktyn, Tyler, Blake, Athena and Alexander, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, sisters Eleanor Mihal and Alice Zenger, and brother Norman Akita.
The family is deeply indebted to his caregivers: Imee, Grace, Elsie, Alex, Beverly, Gloria and Maria, and the many others who gave him tender loving over the past year.
Private services will be held at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Vincent James ‘Jim’ DeCosta
Vincent James “Jim” DeCosta passed away on Aug. 14, 2021, at the age of 64, in Lihu’e. He was born on March 8, 1957 in Waimea. He was a security guard at National Tropical Botanical Garden.
He was preceded in death by father Vincent DeCosta, mother Bertha Jean DeCosta and brother Michael Alan DeCosta.
He is survived by wife Gerlinda M. DeCosta, sons Keola James (Courtney Brown) DeCosta and Vincent Kapono (Kathlen Lee) DeCosta, daughter Alanna (Neila Tuakoi) DeCosta, grandchildren Faith L. DeCosta-Tuakoi, Harmony H. DeCosta-Tuakoi, Havea Tuakoi and Hausia Tuakoi, brothers Damien M. DeCosta Sr., Craig (Shauna Lee Cahill) DeCosta, and sister Theresa C. DeCosta Koki, all of Kaua‘i, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service will be held at St. Raphael Church in Koloa on Saturday, Sept. 11, with visitation at 9 a.m. and Mass to follow.
The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and face masks are required.

Lillian Nishimoto
Lillian Nishimoto passed away on Aug. 14, 2021, at the age of 93, in Waimea. She was born on April 3, 1928 on Kaua‘i. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by father Seichi Kimura, mother Harumi Yoshihara and daughter Rae Ho‘okano.
She is survived by husband El Nishimoto, sons Robert (Karen) Nishimoto of Lihu‘e and Jack (Tammy) Nishimoto of Lihu‘e, 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Garden Island Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Robert Kamealoha Nawai
Robert Kamealoha Nawai passed away at home on July 26, 2021 at the age of 82. He was born on Aug. 22, 1938 in Waimea. He was a veteran with the U. S. Marines and a supervisor for Highway Construction Company.
He was preceded in death by wife Vivian Leilani Souza Nawai, son Robert Kamealoha Nawai and daughter Lynette Leilani Nawai Kapanui.
He is survived by grandchildren Kamaile, Kapono and Kaleo Kapanui.
A service will be held at a later date.

Laverne Mikiyo Kodama-Yokoi
Laverne Mikiyo Kodama-Yokoi of Wailua Houselots passed away on Aug. 4, 2021, at the age of 77. She was born on Feb. 13, 1944, and was a retired office worker.
She was preceded in death by parents Shoichi and Kimiko Kodama, husband Ronald Yokoi, brother Ben Kodama and sister Karen Yamamoto.
She is survived by stepdaughters Amber (John) Bird and Miko (Adam) Yokoi, step-grandchildren Siena and Simone Bird, brothers-in-law James Yamamoto, Royden (Betty) Yokoi and Gordon Yokoi, and sisters-in-law Ann Kodama and Vera Yokoi.
Visitation is Saturday, Sept. 4, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Garden Island Mortuary.
The family requests that, in lieu of koden (monetary gifts), flowers be placed when convenient at her final place of rest at Lihu‘e Cemetery. Details will be provided at the visitation. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks are required.
