Congratulations, too, to Kapa‘a Middle School student Kaleb “Loea” Panui (remember him from that Surf soccer tournament in San Diego?) on being the only Hawai‘i student to be selected for Team USA that took gold during their championship game last Sunday in North Carolina. More kudos to Ethan Page, Jodie Puata-Agena (any relation to Garrett Agena?), Tonya Gwin and all the Lawa‘i Market ‘ohana on their first anniversary that comes up this Saturday. Great job on doing more than just surviving during a year of COVID-19. For those who want to help the crew celebrate with the house coffee, cookies and soft-serve ice cream (all while supplies last), keep in mind the COVID-19 rules and safety guidelines that include no large gatherings, wearing face masks, social distancing and frequent hand sanitizing.
Kudos to the Living Foods (no lanai — everything is Living Foods, said Pillare Mukai of The Shops at Kukui‘ula) crew, who are aiming for an opening to coincide with the Sept. 15 pop-up farmers’ market at The Shops, said Joyce Takahashi of Miki Macs. Joyce and Dr. Francis Takahashi were able to drop in on Laurie Ho and Kelly Gooding, who had reservations at Merriman’s. Laurie said the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau annual meeting was also conducted not in-person (postmark deadline was Aug. 31 because the bureau could not have the in-person annual meeting because of the pandemic).
