LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Charity Walk presented its second fundraising special event when gates to Vidinha Stadium opened for the Charity Walk Outdoor Ohana Movie Night.
On Saturday, more than 40 families gathered at the Vidinha Stadium parking lot that was permitted to just a portion of the parking spaces in consideration of COVID-19 health and safety protocol and ringed by tents bearing the food packages including bento that were available to order for a donation. A silent auction pulled people into the tent village and the overflow stopped to visit Lisa Johnston and the Super Duper II ice cream truck for dessert.
Volunteers served as food runners to vehicle camps who placed orders for food from an order blank that was distributed on registration with ample time for movie-goers to enjoy the night’s menu and get in on some of the silent auction action before “Raya The Last Dragon” made its appearance at the Vidinha Stadium.
Armed with a goal of $200,000, the Charity Walk Outdoor Ohana Movie Night is a special presentation by the Charity Walk Committee ahead of the Virtual Charity Walk that takes place Aug. 30 through Sept. 12. Walkers can keep track of their steps, or donate to a team or individual through a special digital platform that can be downloaded through a mobile device during the two-week period.
Other special Charity Walk events include a scheduled bowling night on July 31 at Kaua‘i Bowl, and a golf tournament scheduled for Aug. 28 at the Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course.
Proceeds from the Charity Walk stays on Kaua‘i to benefit more than 60 Kaua‘i nonprofits.

I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make fun of the movie night. Always great to see so much support to the Kaua’i residences. Every time I think of movie night, I think of pop corns, hot dogs, ice cream, sodas, and just fun night out. I hope this turns out to be a profitable event.
Good luck.
