Alvaro Serapio
Alvaro Serapio passed away on May 18, 2021, at the age of 97, in ‘Ele‘ele. He was born on February 22, 1924 in Langiden Abra, Philippines and was a farm laborer.
Alvaro was preceded in death by his parents Infiel Serapio and Padaman Balanay, siblings Dominga Martinez, Rosalina Duran, Federico Serapio and grandson John-Eric Parinas.
Alvaro is survived by his wife Beatriz C. Serapio, sons Hory (Leticia) Serapio of ‘Ele‘ele, Amado (Rebecca) Serapio of ‘Ele‘ele, Fidel (Estela) Serapio of Kaumakani, daughters Avelina (Nestor) Parinas of ‘Ele‘ele, Leticia Dela Cruz of Manila, Philippines, Zenaida (Clem) Lum of Las Vegas, Nevada, Crispina (Roel) Acob of ‘Ele‘ele, grandchildren Jay Parinas, Helen Serapio, Norman Serapio, Jay Mark Serapio, Aaron Acob, Robyn Acob, Marc Andrei Serapio, Andrian Serapio, Dawn Serapio, Kaye Serapio, Hazel Serapio, Tricia Dela Cruz, Precious Dela Cruz, Nikki Joy Dela Cruz, great-grandchildren Phoebe Ancheta, Noem Serapio, Anela Serapio, Natalie, Serapio, Maya Avery Parinas, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Walk-through visitation is scheduled at Garden Island Mortuary on Saturday, July 3, 2021, from 9 to 11 a.m. Celebration of Life to follow. The family requests casual attire and no flowers. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, face masks and social distancing is required.

Violet ‘Vi’ Tong Git Mew Strom
Violet “Vi” Tong Git Mew Strom passed away on June 16, 2021, at the age of 93. She was born in Honolulu on Dec. 21, 1928. A graduate of Warrington High school in 1946, she met and married Hiram Strom (deceased) before moving to Kaua‘i where she made her home for the remainder of her life.
Violet is survived by 4 children, Russell Strom of Carson City, Nevada, Roy S. Strom (Carol) of Kapa‘a, Hugh A. Strom (Vicki) of Kalaheo and Vianne C. S. Tabata (Lyle) of Lihu’e, one daughter, Roseanna Thompson of Eugene, Oregon. There are 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-gandchildren.
Violet was active in several community organizations. One of which was BSA as one of the first den leaders in the Kapa‘a area. Her work career included a KEO Outreach Worker, a Director of the YWCA and Director of Hawaii Planned Parenthood where she retired from after 23 years of service. Her time at the YWCA also included time as a Camp Director at Summer Camp at Sloggett. She also helped in the development of teen programs for the YWCA. She was ahead of her time in the development of programs that helped young women on Kaua‘i.

Troy William Martin
Troy William Martin, of ‘Ele‘ele, passed away on May 23 2021, at his home at the age of 55. Born in Reno, Nevada, on June 1, 1965, Troy was the President of Martin Steel Constructors, Inc. and a beloved member of his community.
Troy was preceded in death by his mother Marjorie Jean Martin and his father, Harold Lowell Martin.
Troy is survived by his life partner Malia Kali, son Chance Martin, step-children Malisha and Kepa Kali, Brilynn and Bridan Imaoka, brothers Todd and Chris Martin, numerous family and friends.
A drive-by Celebration of Troy’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the Hanapepe Tennis Courts from 10 a.m. to 1 pm.

Tisha Leiko Miyamoto-Damasco
Tisha Leiko Miyamoto-Damasco passed away on June 11, 2021, at the age of 54, in Waimea. She was born on May 21, 1967, in Waimea.
Tisha is survived by her husband Cyle Wayne Damasco, sons Christian T. M. Damasco (Shantel) of Hanama‘ulu, Terren G. K. Damasco of ‘Ele‘ele, daughter Kellianne N. Damasco of ‘Ele‘ele, granddaughter Shyann Damasco, parents Noel Yukio Miyamoto and Ann Tsuyuko Kira Miyamoto, brother Kell Miyamoto of Mililani, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at a later date.

Norman Mitsuo Horita
Norman Mitsuo Horita passed away on June 10, 2021, at the age of 77, in Ewa Beach. He was born on April 20, 1944, in Lihu‘e. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and a General Contractor.
Norman was preceded in death by his wife Diana Horita.
Norman is survived by his sons Edmund Horita of Lawa‘i, Norlan (Selene) Horita of Ewa Beach, Henrick (Chrissy) Horita of Denver, Colorado, daughter Dana (Mike) Horita of Seattle, Washington, 9 grandchildren, brothers, Edwin Horita of Lawa‘i, Gilbert (Gail) Horita of Kailua, sisters Sharyn (Elliot) Matsuoka of Torrance, California, Noreen (Harold) Tavares of Lihu‘e, Shayne (Jett) Tokita of Omao, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private service will be held and the family requests no koden (monetary gift).

Marie Christine Relacion passed away on June 18, 2021, at the age of 61, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. She was born on Dec. 24, 1959, in Lihu‘e. She was a Retail Manager at DXL Men’s Apparel.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents Pablo and Juanita Sarmiento, brothers Edward “Goto” and Robert Sarmiento and the father of her children Jeffrey Relacion.
Marie is survived by her significant other Rashad Brown, son Chance (Nohonani) Relacion of Honolulu, daughter Shante Furutani of Wailua, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, brothers Pablo (Nadia) Sarmiento of Koloa, Stanley (Alicia) Sarmiento of Kapa‘a, Richard “Choco” Sarmiento of Lihu‘e, sisters Loretta Salcedo of Lihu‘e, Gloria Domingo of Puhi, Rose Sherman of California, Connie (Edgard) Salcedo of California, Priscilla (Wesley) Ladera of Hanama‘ulu, numerous nieces and nephews.
