Geraldine ‘Geri’ Norby
It is with heavy hearts the family of Geraldine “Geri” Norby, of Kekaha, announced she has passed May 16, 2021, at age 83, to be with her Lord.
She is survived by her daughter Jacqulyn Ball, grandsons Michael and Kyle Ball as well as great-grand children Philip and Lily.
She goes on to be joyfully rejoined with her son Greg Norby, whom she lost to cancer eight years ago and so painfully missed. No doubt she is singing and dancing in the heavens once again as she loved to do so much!
As the renowned bartender at Barking Sands navel base for many years, she always shared a huge heart and support to our military away from their homes while on island. She truly touched the lives of so many in a profound way. Her never ending deep of love for her Lord, her family, the amazing spirit of compassion for all who came into her life, as well as her gleaming smile and laughter that would light up the room will be her legacy.
A celebration of life is Sunday, June 27, at 3 p.m., with the scattering of ashes at sea to follow.
Derrick D. Linoz
I’m sad to say that, after a long illness, my youngest brother, Derrick D. Linoz, 63, of Las Vegas, has passed away. He was born on July 5, 1958.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and will surely be missed and loved by all.
He was preceded in death by parents Dalmacio and Feliza Linoz, brother Lenoard Linoz, and sisters Innocencia Linoz and Susan Butacan.
He is survived by sisters Linda Paza, Charleen (Glenn) Ganeku, Theresa Linoz and Charmaine Duarte, brothers John (Ruth) Linoz and Howard (Luz) Linoz, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sally A. King (nee Futty)
Sally A. King (nee Futty), of Kapa‘a, died peacefully on June 10, 2021, two days after turning 75. She is now free after a challenging life with Parkinson’s disease. She never complained about the life she had to endure during all those many years, and lived life to the fullest.
She had a busy career after graduating from the University of Delaware. She had many professional interests, from teaching to owning her own businesses and being certified as a commercial airline pilot.
In fact, Joe Biden was one of her passengers in a private flight during his early years of politics.
She moved to Kaua‘i in 1992 from West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Her favorite pastime was rescuing cats and dogs. She was a forever friend with carrots to any horse in a nearby field. She always had pockets of treats for the neighborhood pets she would encounter during her walks.
She loved putting smiles on the faces of people, with special gifts for children and parties for friends. Some thoughts from friends: “She was the nicest person I ever met,” “She was so intuitive to call me when I needed a friend to talk to.”
She made such a motherly impression many years ago to an 8-year-old over a two-year period, that he passed on those qualities to his four sons, and found her to thank her 40 years later.
Her favorite foods were the lobster curry bisque from Hukilau Lanai and a cherry pie from Kilauea Bakery.
She was blessed with many caregivers, who were truly her angels without wings. She always appreciated the time, care and love that she received from her many friends and caregivers. We are very grateful to have had her in our lives. A donation in her memory may be sent to the Kaua‘i Humane Society.
