Florencio Tangonan
Florencio Tangonan, 100, of Hanama‘ulu, passed away on April 24, 2021, at home. He was born in 23 Paninaan, Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Nov. 7, 1920, and retired from Lihue Plantation.
He was preceded in death by son Macario Tangonan, brothers Juan and Samuel Tangonan, sisters Valentina Visitacion, Anesita Rivera, Visitacion Dalire and Bernarda Galapon, and son-in-law Sinforoso Antonio.
He is survived by wife Claridad Tangonan, son Rizal Tangonan, daughters Consolacion Antonio and Noralyn (Nestor) Arizabal, grandchildren Agnes (Jose) Bermudez of Chicago, Alvin Antonio of O‘ahu, Lhaylalyn Tangonan of San Diego, Rotsen Arizabal of O‘ahu and Cheryl Arizabal of O‘ahu and great-grandchildren Lorenalyn and Jhayden Maldonado of San Diego.
A celebration of life is Saturday, May 29, at Immaculate Conception Church. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. with Mass at 10 a.m. After Mass has concluded, a viewing will begin at 11 a.m. at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens &Funeral Home, with burial to follow there at 1:30 p.m.
Social distancing and face masks are required.

Richard ‘Obie’ Obenauer
Richard “Obie” Obenauer passed away on May 31, 2020, at the age of 88. He was born on Dec. 17, 1931, in Connecticut. He was a U.S. Korean War Veteran and a retired land surveyor.
He was preceded in death by parents Willis and Ruth Obenauer, brother Bill Obenauer, and daughter Diane Obenauer Stowers.
He is survived by wife Joyce Obenauer, daughters, Deborah (John) Kunkle, Raylene (Jay) Movius and Ricki (Clay) Gilman, son Jeffrey Reilly, sister Margaret Chapman,and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life is Saturday, May 31, at 10 a.m. at Lihu‘e Lutheran Church at 4602 Ho‘omana Rd.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, face masks and social distancing are required. The service will also be held virtually at lihuelutheran.com and on Facebook.

Justin Mark Hennessy
Justin Mark Hennessy passed away on March 31, 2021 He was born on May 28, 1976.
He grew up on the North Shore of Kaua‘i. He was a impressive boogie board rider, and rode waves with the “best” out of Kaua‘i. He graduated from Kapa‘a High in 1994. He was a member of the Kaua‘i Society of Artist. In 2018 he won the Emerging Artist Award.” He was best known as a gifted and talented artist.
He had a intense style of drawing that brought his pictures to life by his intricate patterns, details and color.
His style of art was much admired not only by friends and family, but also by all who frequented the shops and restaurants where his work was displayed.
He is survived by mother Linda S. Hennessy, stepfather Jim P. Hennessy, sister Lea Hennessy (Kai) Kano, brothers Robert Hennessy and James Hennessy, stepbrother Brian (Zaida) Hennessy, girlfriend Becka Day of Bend, Oregon, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined in June.
Katherine ‘Kay’ Katie’ R.L. Ramboyan
Katherine “Kay” “Katie” R.L. Ramboyon passed away on May 18, 2020, at the age of 88, in Lihu‘e.
She was born on May 22, 1931 in Hilo, Hawai‘i. After 25+ years of service, she retired from the Kaua‘i state Department of Taxation office, and also worked at Macy’s.
She was preceded in death by husband Juan Ramboyon, mother Luciana Nuesca, father Antonio Liaga and brothers Richard Liaga and Robert Liaga.
She is survived by sons Jon Ramboyon of Lihu‘e, Lawrence (Cindy) Ramboyon of Honolulu and Leonard (Keri) Ramboyon of Hilo, daughters Roberta (Thomas) Lang of Wailua, Leslie (Fernando) Bran of Lihu‘e and Yolanda (Alan) Urakami of Hilo, 24 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sister Mercedes Pagatpatan of Honolulu, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life is Saturday, May 22, at Immaculate Conception Church, with visitation with the family from 9:30 to 10 a.m. and Mass to follow.
Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens &Funeral Home.
