‘ELE‘ELE — The flu bug hit the Kawaihau pitcher and lead-off batter hard, Saturday, and the league-leading Kawaihau was “cremated” by the Barteks, 14-5 in one of the nine games contested in the Kaua‘i Senior League softball over the ‘Ele‘ele and Kaumakani fields.
The Kawaihau loss blemishes the team’s previously undefeated record and give the Rookies, a 17-5 winner over the Hanamaulu Hillsiders at the contest played at the Kaumakani field sole control of the lead with a 9-0 record.
Games were originally scheduled to play at the Bryan J. Baptiste Memorial Sports Complex, but moved to Kaumakani due to soggy and wet field conditions in Kapa‘a.
This week’s games take place at the Puhi Park and the Kaumakani fiellds with the first pitch going off at 9 a.m. at both fields.
‘Ohana Rebels, currently tied for third place following its 10-9 edge over Da Kruzers, last week, will meet Kawaihau in the opening match at the Puhi Park while the Rookies open against Da Kruzerz at the Kaumakani field.
