Kawaihau, Rookies lead senior softball

LIHU‘E — Kawaihau and the Rookies each tout 8-0 records in the Kaua‘i Senior Softball league following their last games contested on March 6.

Kawaihau relied on its bats to take a 4-run advantage over Solid Steel, 15-11 at the Peter Rayno Park in Hanamaulu to mark their eight consecutive win in the league that is open to 55 years and older.

Over at Kaumakani field, the Rookies shut out Kuku’s Aces, 15-0 for its eighth consecutive win to tie Kawaihau for the lead in the 15-team league.

Following last week’s schedule that was rained out due to the county shutting down all parks and athletic fields because of the inclement weather, the Kaua‘i Senior Softball league resumes play at both the Bryan J. Baptiste Memorial Sports Complex, softball field, and at the ‘Ele‘ele Park. First pitch goes at 9 a.m. at both fields.
