The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has provided the County of Kaua‘i with completed updates to the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) for Kaua‘i County with an effective date of Feb. 26, 2021.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has provided the County of Kaua‘i with completed updates to the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) for Kaua‘i County with an effective date of Feb. 26, 2021.
Residents impacted by the FIRM changes are advised to contact insurance agents before Feb. 26 to discuss possible cost-saving options. For more information, visit the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) website at www.floodsmart.gov or call the NFIP Help Center at 1-877-336-2627.
The new maps include changes to the FIRM for Moloa‘a Stream near Moloa‘a Bay and reclassified areas behind the Waimea and Hanapepe Levees to Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA).
