Zonta Club Christmas Fund chair Cindy Ayonon accepts a contribution from Taylor Shigemoto and the HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union ‘ohana, including Lorraine Ballesteros, Karen Shigemoto, Gretchen Pascual, and Morgan Lopez, Monday at the Kukui Grove office.

LIHU‘E — Zonta Club Christmas Fund chair Cindy Ayonon said the Hawai‘iUSA Federal Credit Union contribution on Monday would be paired with a matching grant.

In December, Ayonon said a donor came forward with a $5,000 contribution to the The Garden Island/Zonta Christmas Fund. He further offered up to $5,000 in matching donations given between Dec. 21 through Dec. 25.

The matching grant was quickly filled, and on another phone call, Ayonon said he offered another $5,000 in matching donations because he loves the island that much.

The Hawai‘iUSA credit union contribution will be paired with this offer along with other contributions coming in online, Ayonon said.

The Christmas Fund is an avenue for everyone to provide that assistance. Donations are used by Zonta Club members to purchase gift certificates that are in turn distributed to families and individuals through social-service agencies.
