Help Ruby, Ryleigh start their new adventure
Ruby is a single mom to Ryleigh, who is a bright little girl. The family is currently in transition and looking forward to planning a future as they start their new adventure. Ruby works part-time and after rent struggles to put food on the table and necessities for Ryleigh.
Ruby was fortunate enough to find housing in her budget. She and Ryleigh are excited about moving into a new home all to themselves as they start the rebuilding process. With money being tight, Ruby is asking assistance for household items, pots, pans, utensils, toiletries, towels, linens and curtains.
Through Christmas Eve, The Garden Island will share daily, front-page stories about families (we don’t use their real names) facing challenges and who would appreciate a little help.
The Christmas Fund is an avenue for everyone to provide that assistance. Donations are used by Zonta Club members to purchase gift certificates that are in turn distributed to families and individuals through social-service agencies.
Each donation is accounted for and recorded. There are no administrative costs involved, and money goes directly to provide for those in need of Christmas presents and groceries.

• Clive is a single male who has been homeless for a few years. Clive is trying to work and better himself by going to college. However, with COVID-19, Clive has lost his job and is unsure about how he will continue his education. Without work, Clive is running low on funds. He recently connected with a social service agency, that was able to find him housing and connect him possible job opportunities. While Clive is excited, he is also unsure of how he will be able to afford the things he needs in his home, he is asking for pots, pans, utensils, toiletries, towels, curtains and linens.
• Carrie was living on the beach when her husband physically assaulted her. She is currently looking for housing and a stable job. She loves body lotions and body washes.
• Marg fled from a very dangerous marriage. A lot of physical abuse, threatening to kill her and even shooting her car tires. She is looking for housing and possibly wanting to move back to Japan. She enjoys spa things and items to help her relax.
