Public hearing on rental-housing units is Monday

LIHU‘E — The County Housing Agency will hold a public hearing at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, on the proposed rules and regulations governing the certification of affordable Additional Rental Units.

The CHA is proposing to adopt rules and regulations for the purpose of establishing the requirements and procedures for owners to certify ARUs as affordable, in order to qualify for various permit waivers, usage-fee waivers and subsidies, as provided for in the Kaua‘i County Code.

All persons who wish to present testimony on Nov. 30, may do so via the Microsoft Teams audio-conferencing platform by calling 1-469-848-0234. The conference ID is 282 990 9#.

Anyone interested in providing oral testimony by video teleconference must register with the CHA at least one hour prior to the hearing by sending an email to or by calling 241-4444, and providing name, phone number and email address. A link to the video teleconference will be emailed following registration.

Advance registration is not required for those wishing to participate by audio conference only.
