KAPAIA — The Lihu‘e Hongwanji Mission is hosting a drive-thru, drop-off Rice Roundup Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we’re rounding up bags of rice to donate to the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank to help our neighbors who are experiencing hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Carol Valentine, president of the Lihu‘e Hongwanji Mission.
“If you are able to, please donate at least one, 15-pound bag of rice.”
Rice donors can drive through the temple’s main entrance with rice in the car’s trunk. Pop the trunk and the rice will be unloaded without the driver leaving the car. Face masks and social distancing will be observed.
For those unable to carry or deliver rice, monetary donations of any amount will be accepted for the purchase of rice.
Checks should be payable to Lihu‘e Hongwanji Mission with the notation “rice” on the check.
The KIFB is scheduled to visit the church Monday for the rice pickup.
