Reef Guardians after-school program starts Tuesday

PRINCEVILLE — Reef Guardians Hawai‘i, a nonprofit with offices in Hanalei and Santa Barbara, California, is inviting Kaua‘i children ages 5 to 8 to dive into an after-school program Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Church of the Pacific in Princeville.

The program culmintes with a puppet show performance.

“Our mantras are ‘reef preservation through research and education’ and ‘Saving our Oceans, One Reef at a Time,’” Reef Guardians said in a press release.

There will be a team of professional marine educators and artists helping students in exploring the world of fish, mermaids and marine animals.

“The fun and the fascinating program is taught from ecological, Hawaiian and scientific perspectives, encouraging values of stewardship, curiosity and a quest for learning,” RGH stated on its website.

There is a fee per child, $100 for five days, however, there are scholarships of $50 and fee waivers. To inquire about the scholarship, email reefguardianshawaii@gmail.com.
