LIHU‘E — Professional surfer and Kaua‘i resident Bethany Hamilton and husband Adam Dirks are awaiting the birth of their third child.
The couple havetwo boys, Tobias and Wesley, and Hamilton is now six months along in her current pregnancy.
At request of their children, they have chosen to wait on learning the gender.
“They like the surprise (of not knowing the gender),” said Hamilton, Soul Surfer and Company operations manager.
Hamilton, one of the premier surfers in the world, became internationally famous after her movie “Soul Surfer” was released in 2011. The movie was a true story based on her 2004 book release titled “Soul Surfer,” about her rehabilitation after losing her arm in a tiger shark attack.
Hamilton has continued surfing for Rip Curl, NOW sports, and has recently joined the RS Surfboard team.
Hamilton is currently doing virtual motivational speaking and promoting her online course called “The Unstoppable Life,” which focuses on developing her course mentorship and community programs.
“After the enthusiasm from her fans about the Live workouts she’s been doing occasionally since the Spring on her Instagram and Facebook, she has decided to develop a functional movement (“workout”) series that will launch shortly as one of the Unstoppable Life programs,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton’s website shares five steps to living what she refers to as an “unstoppable life.”
These steps include appreciation, direction, our associations, perseverance and being teachable.
“If you are in that place of feeling stressed, unmotivated and trapped by all the challenges coming your way, I hear you,” Hamilton said. “Life can be so frustrating and dark at times. But I’ve seen both sides of that — the challenge and the good — that comes from it.”

No offense to Ms. Hamilton, but is this really news that needs to be reported? People have children every day. Celebrity does not make life any more important or interesting. Maybe an article on her programs would have been a better approach.
A third child is a blessing from God. Hey common sense you need to watch the movie “Soul Surfer”. Bethany is a walking, talking miracle ofwhat God can do in a person’s life. She is not just any celebrity. Also watch her documentary, “Unstoppable”.
