Hikers rescued from Kalalau

LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters rescued two hikers from Kalalau Valley on Monday.

A 23-year-old male injured his foot after stepping on a fire pit, while a 44-year-old complained of soreness to her foot.

KFD’s Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 located the injured male hiker. Upon arrival, a 44-year-old female hiker also requested medical attention. The female hiker complained of soreness to her right foot.

The hikers were airlifted to Princeville Airport. The female hiker was assessed and released by American Medical Response personnel. The male hiker was transported to Wilcox Medical Center for further treatment.
