A vote for Joe Biden for president is a vote for Kamala Harris for president. That is, by the looks of him, Biden won’t last a year in office. Not to mention four years.
Joe has fittingly been called a “Trojan Horse” by some political analysts, since Ms. Harris is snuggly ensconced with the radical socialists who have taken control of the U.S. House of Representatives. Now, they are poised to take control of the presidency.
Soviet Premier Vladimir Lenin, in his writings, tells us: “The goal of Socialism is Communism.” If anyone would know, he would.
Those of us who despise Donald Trump are in for an unpleasant choice when our ballots arrive in the mail. It looks like this will be one of those elections where we are compelled to differentiate “the lesser of evils.” It would be a shame if Hawai‘i’s four electoral votes went to advancing Communism in the United States.

Western European democracies have been governed under socialism since WWII. Their social programs are a model of health care and retirement for the rest of the world. It is absurd to thing they will become communists.
On the other hand, the Soviet Union and the Communist Party is gone. The rest of Eastern Europe had communism forced on them and it’s gone from there too.

You think the 1st Amendment applies TO the GI? It’s your kind of (lack of?) thinking that gets us into these kinds of messes.
First, the 1st applies to the government. They can’t stop someone from speaking.** TGI can prevent anyone they want from speaking through their services. They have the right to NOT associate with drivel and dangerous speech of others.
Next, no right is absolute. You do not have the right to libel others, or to incite violence, or to otherwise cause harm to others (shouting FIRE in a crowded theater).
Finally… it’s not a matter of opinion. The original letter is a logical fallacy. One can only hope that TGI reprinting it is only an exercise in outing the (lack of) intelligence of the writer. Personally, I would have filed it in the bin next to the desk.

But Richard, look at Venezuela. They have more natural resources (oil, minerals, etc.) per person than any nation on earth. They choose socialism. Now, due to starvation, the average person in Venezuela has lost 24 pounds.
True, the Venezuelans are eating their zoo animals to survive, but Americans are so overweight that we should vote for Joe and try some socialistic starvation. It might do us some good.
If you think any significant portion of the American Electorate wants a Venezuelan government, then your critical thinking skills are equally as significant. Therefore, pushing such rhetoric is rather disingenuous, at the least.

There may not be a lot of people who want a Venezuelan government, but the polls indicate there are a lot people willing to vote for Venezuelan-style government (that is, voting for Democrats). The majority of Americans are opposed to almost every plank in the Democratic platform. But, the Democrats hope enough people will just vote against the orange man and not know what will happen if the Democrats get control.

Your claims simply don’t line up with reality. Show us any significant number of Democrats who have been elected recently and their support for the style of government that exists in Venezuela. Who says, “That’s the model we should follow.”? Show us one. If you can, explain how that one is the brush with which you can paint the whole of the Democratic Party and their voters.
Also, if possible, explain it without belittling anyone or using exasperated language.

What happened in Venezuela was the result of too much power and too much corruption in the government. The Democrat party platform will hand massive amounts of power to the government. There is a complete control of our healthcare system by officials in Wash. DC. There is a total new economy that does not rely on fossil fuels. This is what socialists do – they put so much power into the hands of bureaucrats that their mismanagement of it will ruin everyone. Regarding corruption, there is corruption on both sides. However, the fact that the Biden family has taken in millions of dollars in bribes from China, Russia, and the Ukraine is the most blatant bribery that I can recall. That kind of corruption is the kind that ruined Venezuela. Joe denies it, but those payments are a matter of public record. Hunter has already admitted receiving the payments because he was a Biden. How can Joe deny things that Hunter already admitted to be true? Joe can only do that because he can mostly get away with it because most of the media is completely biased in his favor.

Actually, Putin got it wrong. Look at the Scandinavian countries and you will see that mixing communist and democratic ideas leads to socialism. It is a blend of the good ideas found in each, respecting individuals and helping them to grow. Neither in communist nor democratic countries are people achieving happiness. But blend the two and you zoom high in happiness index charts.

They are known to have longer life spans, better education, free or almost free higher education, better health care, shorter work years, higher wages and are heads and tails ahead of us in the happiness quotient based On The World Happiness Report.

To those that call Sweden, Norway and the rest of the countries as socialist are totally wrong, and when they were used as examples were most forceful in their denial. Those that make this claim do not know the difference between social programs and true Socialism. Social programs such a welfare, medicade and food stamps are government funded programs (paid for with your tax dollars). Contributive social programs such as Medicare and Social security have private and corporate funding with the government making up the shortfalls (again, with your tax dollars). Socialism is a totally different , insidious take over of your basic Democratic rights. Under socialism, you have little or no say in the structure of your government, because you gave up that right in exchange for letting the elite control your existence. They use that power to control businesses, determine how much you can earn, where you can live and the size of the house they ‘allow” you to have. They make policy decisions that effect your every movement without any representative input from those you “might” be allowed to elect. The end result is the total control by a few elites who have all the power and leave nothing for you. Venezuela has descended into chaos under the socialist doctrine, from one of the richest countries in South America. Finally, when they have overwhelming control, you have communism where no matter who you vote for , they have no power and are all of like thinking. This is China, Cuba where all the control is in the hands of the powerful elite. Defy their wishes and disappear. We are moving in that direction now, since social media can be used to destroy the lives of any one that does not fall in line with the new socialist doctrine. And that is just the beginning. So, please, do not equate social programs with socialism. Free stuff is NOT free, since some one will need to pay for it. Tax rates in the countries you cite are in the 55 to 60% range ! VAT taxes in Europe are 17% of a products value, so what little money you have left is not going to go far. So, YOU ARE paying for the free “stuff” but what you get in return is of far less value than what you pay. Be careful what you wish for, as it will come back to destroy you and the country.

I think Hawai’i is still more for Capitalism and democracy. If you go to places like France, nobility shines on the elite upper class. In Italy, the people who own the factors of production are the younger more capable ones to work. They’re the bread winners. Profits and losses go to those who in America care for themselves and look out for number one, them. This is Donald Trump. Capitalism.
