HANAPEPE — The county Department of Water announced a water-service shutdown for a portion of Hanapepe Road, between Ko Road and Hana Road on Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather-permitting.
The county Department of Public Works and Goodfellow Bros. LLC announced that Hanapepe Road near the intersection of Kona Road will be closed.
The shutdown is necessary in order to connect a new, six-inch main line to the existing 12-inch main and relocate two service meters as part of the Hanapepe-Ele‘ele Water Systems Improvements Project.
Customers in the affected area are advised to prepare for the service shutdown by taking the following steps:
• Store enough water to meet needs until service can be restored;
• Notify family, friends and neighbors of the scheduled shutdown;
Those with faulty water heaters should ensure that water heaters do not empty during the shutdown.
Businesses should plan accordingly before and during the shutdown.
To receive water-service notifications, sign-up for BlackBoard Connect CTY at kauai.gov/KEMA.
A trailer-mounted water tank with potable water will be located near the intersection of Kona and Hanapepe roads. Customers must bring their own containers to fill if needed.
Anyone with questions about the road closures may contact Ryan Mountcastle with Goodfellow Bros. at 658-1151 or ryanm@goodfellowbros.com.
