PRINCEVILLE — Princeville Makai Golf Club member Carla Watson carded a hole in one on the seventh hole using a seven iron Tuesday morning.
The hole is referred to at the club as the “lucky 7-on-7.”
Watson, a frequent golfer at Makai, plays every Tuesday with the club’s ladies group.
She started playing golf in her 60s, and Tuesday’s shot was her fourth hole in one of her career.
Watson said she wasn’t pleased with her performance, but compensated for it on hole seven.
“I wasn’t playing very well today, but my friends Anita and Dottie encouraged me to keep going, and I got my hole in one right after,” Watson said. “I love playing Makai Golf Course. Everyone is so friendly.”
Wait, she started playing in her 60s and has scored 4 hole in ones so far in her life? How old is she now, 70? I know too many folks who grew up playing golf at 10 and are sub 10 handicap players and who play a couple of times per week and have never scored a hole in one in spite of playing golf for 40 or 50 years. Call me extremely skeptical of that claim.
