Thank you for starting to address the problems on Wawae Road, it has been getting scary to drive there!! I think there may need to be a program that helps homeowners deal with the invasive trees on their property that also pose a hazard to drivers on the road below; removing them is a large financial burden to people who never planted those trees but who will be forced to deal with the spread onto their property regardless. The county should also notify property owners when their trees pose a hazard to people driving on county roads; eventually one of those large branches is going to crush a passing car, and it would probably be a nasty surprise to the property owner to find out they’re financially liable for someone’s injuries or death because they didn’t maintain these trees that they never planted or wanted. I’m sure that’s a problem in lots of places on the island, but that lower portion of Wawae Road is really bad.
Thank you for your comments. We live on Wawae Road and at least one branch in particular threatens drivers. It’s time to do some tree=-trimming/cutting!
