Jose Ontoy

Jose Ontoy, 85, of Kapa‘a, passed at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on April 23, 2020. He was born in Hawai‘i on May 11, 1934, and retired with Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital as a laundry truck driver.

Jose was preceded in death by his daughter Kathleen Ontoy Barcol.

Jose is survived by his daughter Darlene (Davay) Tapusoa; sister Rosita Paden; 2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandsons, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.

Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Carmela DeMarco

Carmela DeMarco of Koloa, passed away on April 27, 2020, at her home in Poipu at the age of 83. Born on March 19, 1937, in New York, New York, Carmela was a real estate broker and gifted holistic healer.

Carmella was preceded in death by parents Ignazio and Gioacchna DeMarco; sisters, Lilian, Mary, Antoinette, Angie; brother, Louis.

Carmella is survived by son George (Catherine) Tuck; daughter Elizabeth (Michael) Cadava; brothers, Vincent (Doris) DeMarco, Salvatore (Joanie) DeMarco; one grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.

Concepcion B. Makaneole

Concepcion B. Makaneole passed away at Garden Isle Healthcare on April 18, 2020. She was born in the Philippines on Dec. 7, 1926, and was raised most of her life on Kauai. She retired working for Lapperts Hawaii and The Foster Grandparent Program.

Concepcion was preceded in death by husband George D. Makaneole II; parents Vicente and Gregoria Bargayo; brothers, Ceazar (Julie) Bargayo, Jesus (Sally) Bargayo; sister Fedelina (Patricio) Gongbob.

Concepcion is survived by sister Cora (Ali Sr.) Balocan; brothers, Tony (Lucy) Bargayo, Toi (Carmen) Bargayo; sons, Marvin Bargayo, Glen (Laurie) Makaneole, George (Lorri) Makaneole III; daughters, Gail (Cleve) Shigematsu, Gerlinda (Vincent) DeCosta, Naomi (Dennis) Cortez.; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
