What a difference a month makes. This Feb. 23 photo of Kuhio Highway for an off-island client shows the high volume of traffic that has disappeared as people comply with Gov. David Ige’s stay-home mandate that is in effect until April 30.

Rice Street is nearly clear of activity Saturday morning due to people complying with Gov. David Ige’s stay-home mandate and the passage of a low-pressure system that dumped rain on the east and windward areas of Kaua‘i Friday night and Saturday morning.

Remain vigilant and stay well is the message Milton Ozaki sends through his Robert’s advertisement. What a difference a month makes, as everyone is trying to comply with Gov. David Ige’s stay-home emergency mandate. Kuhio Highway near the Hanalei Bridge was closed Saturday due to the overnight thunderstorms, and so was Kuhio Highway at the Wailua River bridge. It’s a good thing we’re limited to “essential” traffic only. Jessica Else is “working from home today,” she said Saturday.
