Dustin Plank (remember him from the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation paddling regattas some few years back?) finally (how many connecting flights were cancelled?) made it home to Ohio after spending several months on Maui, but is not out of the woods, yet. Now he’s got the “travelers’ bug” that puts him in that vulnerability group. No, stay well.
Coach Rachel Medeiros (undefeated Kaua‘i High School girls junior varsity paddlers) is busy with Aletha Thomas and Marissa Tanji at Monkeypod Jam (when was the last time coach made it to the Kaua‘i Community Market?) and all of those community-supported agriculture packages (those Glory Farm and Lin Farm [is Cindy Lin helping clean all those orders?] packages never looked better). Wow, how much things have changed in such a short time. Hopefully, Florence Toyofuku is staying safe and well (oh yeah, grandma Isobel Storch — she’s with the Friends of the Kapa‘a Public Library — will have her occupied with a lot of stay-at-home activities).

‘Travelers Bug”? Do you mean, possibly Covid-19, the potentially deadly virus? The death score doubled over night in this country. You calling it the “Travelers Bug” is an insult. What is wrong with Dennis lately? Just seems so odd how he seems to really despise all of this and wants to make light of it? Is it his attempt at humor? I am so confused with this style of reporting. Does this person have a journalism degree? I don’t find that amusing at all. Bad journalism. Tongue and cheek “reporting” much? How about an article about firefighters, nurses, doctors, people who are actually on the front lines, rather than pet friends or businesses? At least there aren’t any pictures with people squished together laughing and smiling like its all a joke.
On that note, why sin’t the GI updating us on the Mayors message, which the Star Advertiser is reporting daily? Why aren’t we being updated on the cases daily? What is going on in that place over there? Does the Garden Island consider this all a joke, and a “Travelers Bug?” Is this the opinion of the Garden Island? The editor should start being very strict on this persons submissions. Travelers Bug indeed! Shame!
