Eugene Joseph Farias

Eugene Joseph Farias passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 18, 2020, at the age of 66. He was born on Aug. 4, 1953.

He was preceded in death by father Joseph Farias.

He is survived by wife Jodie Farias, sons Micah (Corilee) Farias of O‘ahu, Jonah Farias of Kaua‘i and Noah Farias of Kaua‘i, mother Ethel Farias of Kaua‘i, sister Joanne (George) Coates of Virginia, brother Elroy (Darlene) Farias of Kaua‘i, grandchildren Josiah Farias and Emi Farias and by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private services were held. The family requests no monetary gifts of condolence.

Garden Island Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.

Norma T. Senda

Norma T. Senda of Lihu‘e, passed away on Feb. 7, 2020, at Garden Island Health Care.

Born on Jan. 1, 1926, in Kealia, she was a retiree of the state Department of Taxation.

She was preceded in death by husband Kazuo Senda.

She is survived by son Warren (Georgiane) Senda, daughter Trudy (Loren) Senda, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Private services will be held. The family requests no koden (monetary gifts) or other gifts.

Borthwick Kauai Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.

Brenda Joyce Moniz

Brenda Joyce Moniz passed away on Jan. 17, 2020, at the age of 71.

She was born on Oct. 14, 1948, in Lihu‘e, and was employed by Hertz and Dollar/Thrifty Car Rental.

She was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Adeline Perreira, husband Ernest R. Moniz Sr., and brothers Joseph Gonsalves and Wayne Perreira.

She is survived by son Ernest Moniz Jr., daughters Cheryl (Jay) Perreira, Michelle (Rick) Ornellas and April (Gerald) Ancheta, sisters Rose Victorino and Angie Souza, brothers Richard Gonsalves and Godfrey Perreira, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 7, at Holy Cross Church, with visitation from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m., eulogy from 9:45 to 10 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m.

Borthwick Kauai Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
