KAPA‘A — A broken water main caused some flooding in Kapa‘a on Saturday, as well as interrupted water service for some customers and road closures.
Water was shut off to residents Ulu Street, Koa Street and Mamane Street in Kapa‘a at about 11 a.m. Saturday, and parts of Ulu Street were closed for several hours due to the main line break on Ulu Street.
DOW advised customers of the emergency shutdown a little more than an hour before it happened and suggested they store water to meet needs during that time — which was estimated to last between six and eight hours.
By about noon, DOW had narrowed down service shutdowns only to customers on Mamane Street, and time estimates for the shutdown shrunk to two hours.
By 1 p.m. service was restored to all customers.
Partial lane closures continued for about two more hours along Ulu Street to allow crews to complete roadwork in the area.
Kudos to DOW! You do a great job.
