Asako Hori
Asako Hori passed away peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 22, 2019, at the age of 89, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 24, 1930, in Waimea, and was a retired cafeteria assistant at Kalaheo Elementary School.
She is preceded in death by her parents Kinjiro and Tomeyo Takita; sister Nancy Harrold; brothers, Meldin, Wataru and Satoshi Takita.
She is survived by her loving husband Masato Hori; sons, Wayne (Janice) Hori of Koloa, Clyde (Norma) Hori of Kalaheo; daughters, Cynthia (Ronald) Terry of Kalaheo, Karen (Kenneth) Torigoe of Lihue; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
In respect to our mother’s wishes, the celebration of life services will be private and no koden please.

Angela Lorraine Tavares
Angela Lorraine Tavares of Kalaheo, passed away on Jan. 5, 2020, at the age of 93, at Hale Kapuna Heritage Home. Born on Sept. 12, 1926, in Eleele, she was a retired housekeeper at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Frances Moura; husband Joseph Tavares, Jr.; son Joseph Sidney Tavares; brother Clarence Moura.
She is survived by her sons, Wallace “Wally” (Dinah) Tavares, Thomas “Tommy” Tavares; brothers, Wallace (Violet) Moura, Albert (Dorothy) Moura; sisters, Frances Freitas; 2 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo. Visitation starts at 8:30 a.m. and Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. There will be a burial to follow at Hanapepe Veterans Center.

Thomas G. Redeker
Thomas G. Redeker passed away on Jan. 1, 2020. He was born on April 24, 1965, in Los Angeles, California.
He is survived by his parents Allan and Mary Redeker; brother James Redeker; sister Martha Redeker.
An internment will be held on Boone, Iowa.

Shawn Kimo Parraga Sr.
Shawn Kimo Parraga Sr. passed away on Jan. 1, 2020, on Kauai at the age of 39. He was born on May 4, 1980, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his sons, Shawn Kimo Parraga Jr. of Kauai, Kaleb Akoni Parraga of Kauai; daughters, Cheyenne J.K Nativadad Parraga of Kauai/Nevada, Kiersten-Zalia Rodrigues Parraga of Kauai; parents Carnation Harris and Antone Parraga Jr. of Kekaha; brothers, Anthony “Bully” Parraga of Kauai, Shane (Anna) Buesil of Kauai, Anthony “Ants” Harris of Kauai; sisters, Antonette Parraga of Kauai, Tina (Larry) Yadao of Kauai, Trinette (Wesley) Kaui of Kauai, Elise (Corey) Silva of Kauai, Raynette (Stuart) Saito of Oahu; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, with visitation from 10:30 a.m. to noon. A celebration of life will be held at noon. Family suggests casual attire. Flowers welcome.

Judy Haruko Segawa
Judy Haruko Segawa passed away on Dec. 18, 2019, at the age of 92, at Kauai Care Center with her family by her side. She was born on April 14, 1927, in Naha, Okinawa, Japan. She was the owner of Judy’s Okazu and Saimin located in the old Lihue Shopping Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Seiso Segawa; her parents Kikyu Higa and Sumiko Onaga.
She is survived by her daughter Jane (Roy) Iwane of Silverdale, Washington; grandchildren, Deidre (Manuel) Iwane-Tello of Clayton, California, Allyn Iwane of Seattle; great-grandchildren, Kenji Tello, Solei Tello, Noemi Tello; brother Yoshio (Shizuko) Higa of Kawasaki, Japan; sisters, Tsuneko (Seiyu) Yamakawa, Kazuko Ishikawa of Okinawa, Japan; numerous, nieces, and nephews.
Her service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, at the Lihue Hongwanji Temple with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. The family suggests casual attire and no monetary offerings.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Antonio Almasan Cabanes
Antonio Almasan Cabanes, age 88, passed away on Jan. 7, 2020, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. He was born on Jan. 17, 1931, in Pilar, Abra, Philippines. He was a seed cutter/watchman at Olokele Sugar Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents Simpilicio and Anastasia Cabanes; adoptive parents Mariano and Susana Camangyan.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Cabanes; sons, Simplicio Tito (Nami) Cabanes of Hanapepe, Billy Cabanes of Eleele; daughter, Anabel (Moises) Lopez San Juan of Eleele; 2 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Hall of Jehovah’s Witness at 3100 Akahi St. on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. with services at 3 p.m. Family suggests casual attire.

Mitsuko Hookano passed away on Dec. 22, 2019, in Waimea at the age of 90. She was born on March 15, 1929, in Waimea. She was a licensed practical nurse.
She was preceded in death by her husband Isaac Kaleialoha Liko Mokihana Hookano; parents Kataro and Kiku Sano Kimura; brothers, Torao Katada, Hisashi Kimura, Shinge Kimura, Haruo Kimura, Tamotsu Kimura, Maseru Kimura; sisters, Agnes Yaeko Kimura and Esther Yachiyo Woods.
She is survived by her sons, Aaron (Stella) Hookano of Honolulu, Isaac Liko (Debra) Hookano of Kekaha; hanai son Keith Kimura of Honolulu; daughters, Leah (Patrick) Pereira of Kekaha, Prellna (David) McGee of California; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Tomiko (Daniel) Akuna of California, Yoshiko (Donald) Young of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, Jan, 18, 2020, in Lawai at Garden Island Mortuary with visitation from noon to 1 p.m. and services at 1 p.m. Family suggests aloha attire. Leis and loose flowers accepted. Lunch to follow.
