Doreen Tomiko Inazu
Doreen Tomiko Inazu, dearly cherished and missed, passed away on Nov. 17, 2019, at her home in Kekaha. She was born Doreen Deguchi on Jan. 3, 1923, in Waimea.
Doreen Tomiko, an exceptional typist, enjoyed an early career as an executive secretary with Kekaha Sugar Company. She took classes in tennis and ballroom dancing, learned about Ikebana (flower arranging) and calligraphy, and excelled in the kitchen.
Doreen is survived by her husband Sadao Inazu; daughters, Claire (Soren) Seaver, Haidee Inazu; sister Chiyoko Hashimoto; grandson Keilland Seaver; great-grandson Oliver Seaver.
To honor her time with us a celebration of life will be held Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at 10 a.m. at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary in Koloa.
Alika Huddy
Alika Huddy passed away on Dec. 2, 2019 in Hawaii. He was born on March 17, 1972, in New York.
He is preceded in death his father Alexander Huddy.
He is survived by wife Tisha Huddy of Eleele; son AJ Huddy of Eleele; daughters, Stephanie Patricio-Huddy of Hanapepe, Tiffany Patricio-Huddy of Honolulu; Loke his garage dog; mother Diane Huddy of Eleele; brother Kainoa (Mele) Huddy of Kalaheo; sister Leilani (Eddie) Huddy-O’Rourke of New York.
A celebration of life will be held on Dec. 28, 2019, at Garden Island Mortuary with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. Family suggests casual attire.

Walter Labez Estenzo
Walter Labez Estenzo, 75, of Hanamaulu, entered Eternal Life on Dec. 12, 2019, in Wilcox Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, Philippines on Feb. 12, 1944, and retired as a Plumbing Supervisor and Inspector with the County of Kauai.
Preceded in death by his parents Sotero and Consorcia Estenzo; sister Julieta Kathy Estenzo Howell; brother Marco Estenzo Ponciano; father-in-law Dominador Alquisalas; mother-in-law Maximena Alquisalas.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Virgie Estenzo; son Wil (Kristina) Estenzo of Las Vegas; daughters, Vernalyn Estenzo Willis of Las Vegas, Eileen Estenzo Kawai of Honolulu; grandchildren, Katelyn and Liliana Estenzo, Kerry, KC, Jacob Willis, Haylee and Kulamakai Kawai; brothers, Nelson (Gloria) Estenzo of Kapaa, Geraldo “Larry” Estenzo of Kapaa, Wilfredo (Tessie) Estenzo of Wailua; sisters, Rosa Dejos of Texas, Eleanor Estenzo of Kapaa, Feleilani (Boyd) Phillips of Lihue and Maria “Bebe” Burns of Kapaa; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow.

Marie Augusto
Marie Augusto, lovingly known as Mary, went on to life in heaven on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born in Valley House, Kealia, on March 4, 1923, Mary lived a full life for 96 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cesar; her parents John and Mary Arruda; sisters, Agnes Shea, Helen Christiansen; brothers Ernest and Manuel Arruda.
Mary is survived by brother John Arruda; sisters, Rosie Pimental, Dora Sugai. She is also survived by son Wayne Augusto; daughters, Kathleen Asuncion, Susie Gusman, Theresa Augusto. Mary was blessed with six grandchildren, Michelle Saia, Danette Aban, Stanford (Chantel) Aban, Don (Jody) Gusman, Rhonda (John) Cabello, Randal (Richel) Gusman; twelve great grandchildren, Andrew (Tasha) Saia, Tiane (Latu) Lao, Ashley, Randy Teves-Aban, Kala, Annie-Rose Maderia, Stanford Jr. Aban, Kolten Gusman, Noah, Jonah, Elisha Cabello’s, Reginald McFadden; four great great grandchildren, Kaya, Tu’ipulotu, Li’i, Tosh Saia’s.
She love picking opihi, fishing, gardening and cooking. Her favorite activities were those that centered around family. Her love for God was evident in how she lived her life and how she encouraged others to live. She was known for her opu huli massage giftings and other natural healings remedies. Her life was impactful and selfness. She will be truly missed.
Her celebration of life will be held on Dec. 28, 2019, at St. Catherine Church. Visitation at 8 a.m. Eulogy at 9:30 a.m. Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St.Catherine Cemetery.

Karen Anne Liberman
Karen Anne Liberman, 77, of Kapaia, passed away at home on Dec. 19, 2019. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on Feb. 6, 1942, and was a licensed Hair Stylist and Massage Therapist.
Karen was a Beverly Hills Hair Stylist from 1964 to 1976 where she also modeled for T.V commercials and magazines. She styled hair and makeup for movies and actors including Richard Dryfuss in Jaws and Anthony Herraras in the Young and the Restless to name a couple. After moving to Kauai in 1976 she opened and operated the “Hair Kare Saloon” in Puhi and “Hair Kare Salon” in the former Hilton Hotel in Lihue while also doing hair and makeup for movies and weddings.
She was active in hiking and dancing and blessed the lives of thousands of friends on Kauai and around the world and was blessed by each of them. She always had a positive mind and loving heart.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents Marion “Ted” and Kay Shanks.
She is survived by her brother Ted (Cathy) Shanks; 2 nephews Justin Shanks and Troy Shanks; grandnephew Jacob Shanks; grandniece Jenavi Shanks and her life partner Scott Lever.
A celebration of life will be held in February. Services will be announced at a later date.

Pedro Patrick Baniaga
Pedro Patrick Baniaga passed away on Dec. 11 2019, at Wilcox Hospital. He was born on March 29, 1947 at Waimea, and served in the U.S Army. He was a purchasing supervisor and worked at Budget Rent a Car.
He is preceded in death by his father Pedro Pete Ramos Baniaga; grandfather Apolonio Baniaga; grandmother Maria Ramos Baniaga; wife Evelyn Suku Baniaga.
He is survived by his sons, Sanoe (Lani) Baniaga of Kaumakani, Patrick “Patches” (Xiani) Baniaga of Kaumakani; companion Carol Apilado of Kekaha; grandchildren, Sum-Yee, Maikoa, Maika, Makaio, Railee Baniaga; mother, Consuelo “Connie” Baniaga; sister Marianne (Mark) Lipward of Vermillion SD; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Jan. 11, 2019, at Hanapepe Senior Softball Field next to Hanapepe Stadium. Family visitation will be held from 9 to 11:00 a.m.
Maveline ‘Nani’ Mililani Gardner
Maveline “Nani” Mililani Gardner passed away on Dec. 3, 2019, on Oahu at the age of 76. She was born on March 12, 1943, in Waimea. She was a tour guide bus driver with Roberts Hawaii and Grayline.
She was preceded in death by her parents Eddie and Mary Taniguchi, Sr.; sister Sarah “Tita” Borengasser.
She is survived by her husband Clarence Gardner of Lawai; sons Wayne (Raynette) Taniguchi of Kalaheo, Kalei (Lanell) Gardner of Lawai, Lono (Christina) Gardner of Lawai; daughter Raynette “Momi” Gardner of Maile, Oahu; grandchildren, Kylie Taniguchi, Kawehi Taniguchi, Britney (Jarett) Fujioka, Kody Gardner, Nicole Gardner, Kayley Gardner, Rusty Gardner; great-grandchildren Kailea Fujioka and Kamaha’o Cabral; brothers, Eddie “Eloise” Taniguchi, Jr. of Makaweli, Roger (Jennifer) Taniguchi of Lihue; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at Garden Island Mortuary with visitation from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Family suggests casual attire. Flowers welcome.
