Takeko ‘Ruth’ Agena
Takeko “Ruth” Agena passed away on Nov. 14, 2019, at the age of 94. She was born on Nov. 24, 1924, in Mana. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by husband Shigeyoshi Agena, four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by sons Lowell (Roberta) Agena of Kekaha, Garrett (Marcia) Agena of Kekaha and Bryan Agena of Kailua, daughter Lynn (Ben) Estacio of Kirkland, Washington, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandhildren, sisters Yasuko Matsunaga of Portland, Oregon, and Mae Chong of Honolulu, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be on Friday, Dec. 20, at Garden Island Mortuary, with visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and services to follow at 10:30 a.m. The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.

Venancia Escalona Papagayo
Venancia Escalona Papagayo, 84, of Kapaa, passed away peacefully at Garden Island Health Care on Nov. 23, 2019. She was born in Santiago, Ilocos Sur, Phillipines, on April 1, 1935, and retired as a sales associate with Walmart.
She was preceded in death by parents Benito and Maria Escalona, husband Sebastian Papagayo, and siblings Theodorico Escalona and Nena Erata.
She is survived by children Vanessa Papagayo of Kapaa, Patrick Papagayo of Chicago and Grace (Stan Koga) Papagayo of Kapaa, grandchildren Natassja (Beau) Lofton, Tenessa (Robin) Eiland and Brianee Cabacungan, great-grandchildren Kyssja Strickland, Kiarah Strickland, Keanu Strickland and Anela Eiland, brothers Marcos Escalona, Anastacio “Tony” Escalona, and sisters Carmen Escalona, Esparanza “Pansang” Etrata and Pinang Sipin.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21, at St. Catherine Church, with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery in Kealia.

Duane ‘Poody’ Shigeto Yamaguchi
Duane “Poody” Shigeto Yamaguchi, 60, of Mililani, Oahu, passed away on Sept. 20, 2019, in Honolulu. Born in Lihue, he worked at Hawaii Gas.
He is survived by wife Cindy, son Dustin, and sisters Wendy (Milton Koga) Yamaguchi and Candice (Fred) Pascual.
Services will be on Saturday, Dec. 21, at Mililani Memorial Park’s Mauka Chapel, with visitation from 5:30 p.m. and service at 6:30 p.m.
The family suggests casual attire.
Alika Huddy
Alika Huddy passed away on Dec. 2, 2019, in Hawaii.
He was born on March 17, 1972 in New York.
He was preceded in death by father Alexander Huddy.
He is survived by wife Tisha Huddy of Eleele, son AJ Huddy of Eleele, daughters Stephanie Patricio-Huddy of Hanapepe, Tiffany Patricio-Huddy of Honolulu, dog Loke, his garage dog, mother Diane Huddy of Eleele, brother Kainoa (Mele) Huddy of Kalaheo, and Leilani (Eddie) Huddy-O’Rourke of New York.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 28, at Garden Island Mortuary, with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m.

Kathleen M. Furtado Kali
Kathleen M. Furtado Kali, 67, of Pepeekeo, Hawaii, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2019, at home.
She was born on Oct. 8, 1952, to Manuel Furtado and Jeanette Koerte.
She is survived by husband Robert Junior Kali of Pepeekeo, Hawaii, son Harold (Ku‘uipo) Kali of Hanapepe, daughters Lorelee (Travis) Puou of Waianae, Hawaii, Clara (William) Kali-Abihai of Kalaheo, Monica (Chad) Kali-Gomes of Pepeekeo, Hawaii, 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, brothers John Furtado of Omao, Calvin Furtado of Honolulu, Jason Furtado of Hilo and Jeffrey Furtado of Hilo, sisters Susan Duarte of Sunnyvale, California, Brenda Viquelia of Lawai and Michelle Hasegawa of Hanapepe.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Jan. 5, at Salt Pond Beach Park main pavilion from noon to 5 p.m.
The family requests casual attire.
Sumie Kawada Yamauchi
Sumie Kawada Yamauchi, 90, of Lihue, passed away in Wilcox Medical Center on Dec. 4, 2019. She was born in Kapaa on Feb. 18, 1929, and retired from retail sales.
She was preceded in death by husband James K. Yamauchi.
She is survived by son Glenn (Yolanda) Yamauchi of Lihue, daughter Dale Yamauchi of Seattle, grandson Justin Yamauchi of Lihue, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services have been held.

Mitch M. Kouchi
Mitch M. Kouchi passed away on Nov. 20, 2019, at Garden Isle Heath Care. He was born on Feb. 18, 1933.
He was veteran with the U.S Army and was vice president of Garden Isle Disposal Co.
He is survived by sons Ronald “Ron” (Joy) Kouchi of Lihue and Scott (Sandra) Kouchi of Lihue, daughter Valarie (Thomas) Harrison of Boise, Idaho, and grandchildren Dan and Egan Kouchi, Rena Deese, and Alec and Ryan Harrison.
Private services were held. The family requests no koden (monetary gifts).
Garden Island Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Lowell Agena is a nice guy, I served with him for one tour in the Combat Communications unit.
