A bucket holiday centerpiece upgrade created by Johnny Gordines of Tropical Flower Express was available in addition to the bottle piece (they sold out early!) using local holiday greens and some fresh local flowers and seeds enhanced by crafting ingenuity by Terry Gordines. Yes, she’ll have both styles at the Kauai Community Market Saturday at Kauai Community College in Puhi.

Christine Coyaso (Adam was busy harvesting!) of Cocohome shows a local-style hat brim that can be the base of a nice holiday wreath during the Kauai Culinary Market, Wednesday at the Shops at Kukuiula.

The battle (Christmas Tree Battle Royale, that is) is on, and people can vote by visiting the trees and casting their choice by dropping non-perishable canned goods in the baskets set up near the trees at 17 participating spots at The Shops at Kukuiula, where the winners will be announced Friday, Dec. 13, during the mall’s Holiday Bash.

Adam Coyaso of Cocohome was taking advantage of the not-sunny weather to harvest more coconuts for their offerings while Christine Coyaso took care of the table near the Kauai Ginger Beer (you haven’t tried any yet? Tthey’re also at the Kauai Community Market Saturdays at Kauai Community College in Puhi)…and you can check out those quaint holiday pieces created by Terry and Johnny Gordines of Tropical Flower Express (still got time to mail fresh holiday floral greetings, too!).

Jaemryn Peralta was having fun creating a salad Tuesday during the Eleele School ‘Ohana Enrichment Night presented in collaboration with Kamehameha Schools’ Moani Furuta and Mahealani Contrades, the school’s Parent Community Networking Center coordinator. Jaemryn was a New Year’s baby eight years ago. Wilmark Geranimo was one of the community basketball standouts, now, he’s papa to Zariah and 0!

OK, time to get ready for the Lights on Rice excitement (will new Kauai Police Department Public Information Officer Coco Zickos be ‘introduced’ on the KPD unit?). Be safe and mindful of the ongoing construction, and still have fun!

Coach Jack Leonard presents the annual (has it been 15 years?) Kauai Gymnastics Academy exhibition Sunday starting at 1 p.m. at Kukui Grove Center. It’s free, too!
