Kurt Akamine of Garden Isle Rehabilitation and Healthcare was given the Advocacy Award by the Healthcare Association of Hawaii.
Akamine has been an active member of HAH’s Government Relations Committee, and has advocated on behalf of skilled nursing facilities in Hawaii before the state Legislature and Hawaii’s Congressional delegation.
He has been a strong supporter of restoring the inflationary increase that had been taken out during the recession, and advocated for the sustainability bill that passed during the last legislative session. He also helped with the bill passing provisional licensure for speech language pathologists.
