Dennis Fujimoto / The Garden Island

Cancer survivor Melody Pascual takes advantage of the Kapaa High School Marching Band to “enjoy life to the fullest” while waiting on the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital Breast Cancer Walk to start on Ke Ala Hele Makalae Friday. She resides at SMMH.

Sgt. Ian Versamy of the Kapaa High School JROTC and his family, including mom Halda Versamy, sister Cheryl Mahabir and niece Adrianna Rachbaul from Canada (they even got to walk the entire route!) enjoy the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital Breast Cancer Walk on Ke Ala Hele Makalae Friday.

Josie Pablo, far right, and some of her Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital ohana pause for a group photo while participants of the Mahelona Hospital Breast Cancer Walk enjoy the refreshments (those cookies were out of this world!) at Ke Ala Hele Makalae near the Kapaa Pool Friday.

Kudos to Josie Pablo and her ohana from both the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital and the Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital (even Steve Kline got to enjoy the festivities) on the biggest SMMH Breast Cancer Walk to date (this was the seventh year they’ve done this)!
