Van Martinez Ruaboro
Van Martinez Ruaboro, 80, of Kilauea, passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on Sept. 13, 2019. He was born on March 22, 1939, in Kilauea and retired from Hanalei Bay Resort as a ground maintenance personal.
He is preceded in death by his parents Victorio Ruaboro and Salome Martinez Ruaboro; brothers, Ricardo Ruaboro, Javis Ruaboro, Genciano Ruaboro.
Van is survived by his wife of 50 years Amelia Ruaboro of Kilauea; son Melvan Ruaboro of Oahu; 3 grandsons, Stephvan Ruaboro, Nathan Ruaboro, Victorio Ruaboro, all of Oahu; brother Feliciano (Pilar) Ruaboro of Kilauea; sister Carmen (Jaime) Jimenez of Kilauea; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019, at St. Catherine Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens at 1:30 p.m.

Samuel Contrades
Samuel Contrades of Kapahi, passed away on Sept. 3, 2019, at the age of 52 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born on Kauai on Sept. 26, 1966, he was the owner of Samuel Contrades Construction Business.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Isami and Minnie Morita and John Jr. and Emily Contrades.
He is survived by Furball; parents John III and Roberta Contrades; sister Roberta (James) Dandar; brothers, John IV (Crystal) Contrades, Ronald (Tammy) Contrades, Robert (Vanessa) Contrades, Patrick (Jocelyn) Contrades; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapaa. Visitation will be held at 8 a.m. with Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m.
There will be a burial to follow Keapana Cemetery and a luncheon to follow at St. Catherine’s Coyle Hall. Family suggests flowers be omitted. Casual attire.

Galen Toshiro Nakamura
Galen Toshiro Nakamura passed away on Sept. 13, 2019.
He attended Kapa‘a High School, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and the University of San Francisco School of Law. He returned to Hawai‘i where he worked as a Public Defender, Legal Aid Lawyer, and Deputy County Attorney. He later entered private practice and practiced at Shiramizu Loo and Nakamura in Lihue. He was married to Nadine Nakamura and had two children, Casey and Reis. Galen was an avid hiker and enjoyed getting lost in Koke’e State Park and racing up Sleeping Giant.
He is survived by his wife, children, mother Doris Nakamura, and brother Kent Nakamura. He will be remembered at All Saints Episcopal Church on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. with service to follow at 11 a.m.
Rosalia Viernes Erorita
Rosalia Viernes Erorita, of Hanamaulu, passed away on Aug. 29, 2019, at the age of 98. She was born on June 30, 1921, in damping, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, Philippines.
She is preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Margarita Viernes; and her husband Lijardo Erorita,
She is survived by her daughters, Remy (Eddie) Gudoy of Lihue, Gloria Suniga of Philippines; sons, Julio Erorita of Lihue, Felix (Nelia) Erorita of Lihue, Regoberto (Yolanda) Erorita of Kalaheo, Ricarte (Merlita) Erorita of Lihue; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister Maria Sagucio of Honolulu and the late Criselda Edu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at Aloha Church in Lihue. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. There will be a burial to follow at Lihue Cemetery. The family suggests casual attire.

Rosenda Campos Ancheta
Rosenda Campos Ancheta, 85, of Kealia, passed away at Wilcox Medical Clinic on Sept. 11, 2019. She was born in Lihue on April 6, 1934, and retired as an entertainer at Coco Palms Hotel and the food and beverage industry with Golden Cape at the Kauai Surf.
She is preceded in death by her husband Estanislao Ancheta; son Angel Ancheta; siblings, Phil Campos, Domin Sibolboro.
She is survived by her children, Ray (Sandy) Ancheta, Ben (Stacy) Ancheta, Alvina (Anthony) Baduria, Stanley Ancheta, Eugene (Shannon Bagby) Ancheta, Tom Moreno; grandchildren, Nohelani Ancheta, Robert Ancheta, Megan Ancheta, Shellimar Moreno, Mach Moreno, Kayley Roze Ancheta, Kanatai Ancheta; sister Flora Kahaunaele; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, at St. Catherine Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Marie Sueko Rosa, 78, of Hanamaulu, passed away at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital on Sept. 19, 2019. She was born in Lihue on June 2, 1941, and retired as a cashier with Hanamaulu Store and waitress at various locations.
She is preceded in death by her parents Heikichi and Marie Rodrigues Wada; sisters, Eleanor (Alfred) Pundyke, Domenica, Frances (Alec) Smith; brothers, Joseph Castro Jr., William (Beatrice) Victorino Jr., Moses, Albert, Joseph (Bella) Victorino; hanai parents, William (Emily) Victorino Sr., numerous relatives of the Wada, Fukushima and Tanigawa family.
Marie is survived by her husband of 57 years Howard Rosa and her only child Kathleen Rosa; brother Louis (Margaret) Victorino; sisters, Thelma Lopes, Alma Soares; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019, at St. Catherine Church with visitation from 8 a.m., rosary at 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m.

Benjamin Albarado Allianic, Sr. passed away at home in Lawai on Aug. 29, 2019, at the age of 93. He was born on July 31, 1926, in Waimea. He was veteran with the US Army & a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by wife Linda Allianic; daughter Juvana Rapozo; father Dorotio Allianic; mother Margaret Albarado Allianic; grandson Gary Allianic, Jr.
He is survived by his sons, Benjamin Allianic, Jr. (Laura) of Florida, Gary Allianic, Sr. of Lihue, Mark Allianic of Lawai, Glenn Allianic (June) of Koloa, Derwin Allianic (Lisa) of Lihue; son-in-law, John Rapozo of Kaumakani; daughters, Rose Hashimoto (Barry) of Waimea, Maureen Allianic of Hanapepe, Anna Brun (Francis “Joey” Brun) of Lawai; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, William Allianic, Sr. of Pakala, Edward Allianic (Sandy) of Seattle, Washington; sisters, Lillian Labrador of Florida, Connie Bacarro (Merv) of Lihue, Rose Marie Peleres (Herman) of Mililani, Carmen Nordmeir (Julius) of Wamea; and by numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Sept. 28, 2019, at Kauai Veterans Cemetery with visitation: 9 to 10 a.m. and service at 10 a.m. Family suggests casual attire, flowers welcome, luncheon to follow.

Teodora Lagazo Dela Cruz
Teodora Lagazo Dela Cruz, 79, of Hanamaulu, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on Sept. 17, 2019. She was born in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Oct. 9, 1939, and retired as a housekeeper with Kuhio Motors.
She is preceded in death by husband Priscilo Aguilar; brother Antonio “Tony” (Linda) Lagazo.
Teodora is survived by four children, Marilyn (Myles) Suguitan, Eddie (Roxanne) Dela Cruz, Natalie Dela Cruz, Nita (Teddi) Kashima; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister Clarita (Gilbert) Medeiros; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church with visitation from 10:30 a.m. and memorial services beginning at 11 a.m.

Darlene Keiko Pu‘u passed away on Oahu on Sept. 16, 2019, at the age of 65. She was born on Aug. 8, 1954, in Lihue. She was a Protocol Officer (RET) at PMRF.
She was preceded in death by her father Kenichi Shimogawa.
She is survived by her husband Jeffery Pu‘u; sons, Adrian Pu‘u (Tammy) of Lawai, Aeson Pu‘u (Robyn) of Waimea; daughter Kainoa Sheldon (Dan) of Kalaheo; grandchildren, Kiani Oshiro (Shaston), Mahina Pu‘u, Lily Pu‘u, Nakoa Pu‘u, Dallin Sheldon, Kawena Pu‘u & Kaimalie Pu‘u; mother Mary Shimogawa of Kalaheo; brothers, Duane Shimogawa, Sr. of Lawai, David Shimogawa (Rosanne) of Kalaheo; sisters, Kathy Carveiro (Ricky) of Lawai and Debbie Bahnmiller of Wailua; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins
